Listen to this week's “Six Minutes Over Hutchinson” for the scoop on a must-see musical event!
The band Collective Unconscious is performing a live re-creation of the Beach Boys' “Pet Sounds” album, with the aid of a 24-piece string and horn section and vocal quartet. This week's episode also includes a sample of how they sound live — a real treat for lovers of classic rock and pop!
Kay and Jorge also have the news on other weekend events, including where to bring your grandfather's PEZ collection for a professional appraisal :-)
As always, thanks for listening to “Six Minutes Over Hutchinson!”

Back to page topDid anyone catch the Pet Sounds tribute show? How was it? I had a prior engagement up in St. Cloud, but I'd like to see Collective Unconscious in the future.

Back to page topMy wife and I went. It was one of the best things we've attended in this area, ever! Hearing the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds performed by a talented 24-member ensemble, that included strings, brass and an assortment of instruments not often seen and heard, was a treat. It gave us an even greater appreciation of the genius of Brian Wilson. You could tell the musicians on stage were amazed by what they were performing, too.
Collective Unconscious apparently also has done Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and the Beatles "Abbey Road." They hinted they enjoyed D-C's auditorium so much that they'd like to do BOTW there. Maybe the D-C organizers can arrange that.
The only disappointment was that the place was only about half filled. The side wings had almost no one in them. Not sure the marketing effort got out to enough people about just how great a show this was. If you missed it, keep your eyes open for it performing somewhere in the future and don't miss it next time.
I saw Collective Unconscious...
