CHEERS & JEERS for Nov. 17

Cheers to the Hutchinson Theatre Company. Saturday was the third production I have seen them perform and it was awesome! The play, “The Curious Savage,” was full of laughs and suspense. The performers did a fantastic job. It's wonderful to know so much talent resides here in Hutch. To those who haven’t had the chance to see them perform, you are truly missing out. This production, complete with a delicious meal, was $30 for dinner and entertainment. A true value without the cost of driving into the metro area. Next year brings another three plays that I am sure will be excellent.

Jeers to the city of Hutchinson for not putting up the American flags for Veterans Day as they normally put them up for all the other patriotic holidays. As a family member of military families, this is a disgrace to us and our country. We should be supporting our country every day, not just holidays that come around a few times a year. Let’s see the flags every day. Let’s support our troops and our country or feel free to stand in front of them because freedom is not free. These men and women and families sacrifice for everyone’s freedom.

Cheers to the good people who surprised us on Nov. 7. We were enjoying a beautiful fall day visiting relatives in St. Paul. We returned home and our front yard was raked and cleaned for us. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

Cheers to Park Elementary students, teachers, administration, and all involved in the Veterans Day program.
The students behaved superbly, thanks to good discipline, obviously carried out day to day. Those who had special parts were well-prepared and were very poised in their presentations. Our Christian heritage was appropriately acknowledged. The two soldiers speaking briefly, the two veterans performing the flag-folding ceremony, and taps played after a fine message on a DVD made for a meaningful hour.
