2 JV Soccer Teams could start their first ever season this fall of 2008. That is what I had been told last year, but so far I have not seen or heard of any further news about this matter. As far as I know, the Hutchinson High School's School Board has not set up any meetings to further advance this first time venture, and I do not know if our Activities Director plans to approach the school board about adding a Boys and Girls soccer program this fall.
Has anyone heard about this matter?
I truly hope that these 2 teams could start playing this fall.
The Hutchinson United Soccer Association has worked hard to lay a solid foundation for the advancement of this sport and it would be great to see the efforts translate to the High School level of play.

School-sponsored soccer teams would be good for Hutchinson for many reasons: opportunity for athletic kids to play a fall sport whose skills are best used in soccer and who otherwise would sit on the bench or play minimally in another sport; draw people to Hutchinson whose kids grew up playing soccer elsewhere and wish to continue developing those skills if they were to move to Hutchinson (and who may choose to move elsewhere due to no soccer here); open up more college scholarship opportunities for Hutchinson graduates; offer a sport that builds a strong cardio-vascular system, physical coordination, and team work; offer a fall sport that, due to similarities in the two sports, can prepare hockey players for a stronger season; bring Hutchinson to a place in sports competition that other school districts arrived at 10-20 years ago.
I was just informed this...
Back to page topI was just informed this morning, from School Board Chairman Keith Kamrath, that on April 28th, the School Board motioned to add a JV Boys Soccer and JV Girls Soccer team for this fall, 2008.
If this does in fact carry through, it will be Hutchinson High School's first ever soccer teams to participate in league play!
Final approval of this motion is set for the May 12th School Board meeting.
This is great news!
