Same-Sex Marriage

Why shouldn't same-sex couple have the same 515 rights and considerations that a heterosexual couple may have?

First project515.org list 515 MN state statutes that unequally affect same sex couples vs. heterosexual couples.

What is wrong with homosexuality? If 2 men or women choose to be with each other and pursue their lives together let them, and create the laws so they protect them as well as the heterosexual couples, not just the heterosexuals.

I guess I do not understand the general hatred that many people have towards homosexuals. I do not believe that it is a choice they made consciously, and I do not think it effects our society negatively. So these people should be offered the same rights and responsibilities that Heterosexual couples have!

Back to page top

Well banderson, that depends on where you are coming from. I base my thoughts on the Bible and that would cause me to say that homosexuality is a choice. I know that some 'experts' say that I am wrong but if a female where in a male body that would mean God made a mistake and from my viewpoint, that isn't possible. I can also say I don't hate any homosexuals (and I do know some). I do not agree with their lifestyle and I may hate that choice because I feel it is sin, that does not mean I hate them. I hate murder (also considered sin) but I don't hate the murderer.
Because I feel strongly about this I do not endorse homosexuals having the same rights as heterosexuals. I would not vote for that nor would I vote for any political candidate who believes homosexuals deserve those rights.
As far as your statement that homosexuals choices do not negatively effect society, I again disagree. I view it as sin and I feel sin does have a negative effect on society.
I know others have other opinions and that is their choice. My viewpoint may not change anyone else's opinion but I know that nothing can change my opinion either.

I've also heard people say that God gave us free will, and that he will always love us.

I've also never understood what is so wrong about two people of the same sex being in love, or having relationships. I am absolutly disgusted by men and women who are so frightened of homosexuals that they lash out in any way they can come up with.
Aren't there more important things you can do with your time?

Had God ever heard that there was a potential for people to be homosexuals, I can almost bet there would be 11 commandments instead of 10.

If enough people complain to the community and the nation that they cannot marry their animals, eventually it will become a political matter and get attention in the elections.

I can just hear it "I Love Ewe".

Do what you want and stay away from me and my children who were raised correctly. And don't be surprised when people/kids look at you funny/disgusting, because you are.

Gene Wilenius

If you wish to call me narrow minded and bigotted, fine. I'll obey the Scriptures which teaches that homosexuality is a sin. Read Romans 2. Homosexuals should be grateful for Christianity, because rather than killing them as mandated by Levitical Law, they are now under the grace of Jesus Christ in that they are offered opporunity for repentance, and other Christians are to help them through the process. I hate the sin, I do not hate the sinner. I hate drunkenness, but I do not hate the drunkard. I will not let you watch my children, I will not vote you into public office, and personally (and this is my absolute right), I will not hire you or let you rent my house IF you practice your sin while on MY property or working for MY business because I am accountable to God as to what I permit, encourage, or support. I will give no regard to any law which states a homosexual has absolute equal rights, because this is absolutely against the moral principles of Christianity upon which our nation is founded. However, I will encourage you to change your ways, and I will offer guidance and prayer. But if you don't want it, I'll leave you to your sin; God will judge you in the end according to what is written in the Scriptures, not according to what the political or cultural norm is and I will have done my part in giving you fair warning; as God also has.

You need to remember that...

Back to page top

You need to remember that YOUR God may not be my God and your Bible may not be what I read.

The constitution of this country clearly states "all men are equal" and it also promises us freedom of religion to practice what we please. Just because one thing that you may see wrong, may not be wrong in someone else's eyes, and you need to respect that.

As for myself, I know the truth. I am Gay, and I know I did not just wake up one day and say I'm attracted to men...I went to a church and went through their holy roller, laying of hands and all that jazz...and guess what I'm still ******! It doesn't work...it is not a spiritual issue, it is much deeper, probably beyond human comprehension. Homosexuality has been seen even in the animal kingdom, so it isn't just limited to humans. There are animals that are known to change their own sex from female to male or vice versa (wow, even tran-sexuals are in the animal kingdom).

Some day when I meet the right person, the person I want to share the rest of my life with, I hope that the legal process will benefit me and my partner just as much as it benefits a heterosexual couple. After all both me and my partner are humans...

As far as your jobs that you would offer me, the pay is probably too little, and your houses or apartments are probably too expensive, just remember my money is just as good as anyone else's!

I am going to raise my kids right.
Teach them that everyone is to be accepted regardless of race, origin, or sexuality.
I see no difference between racism and this issue. And I am sure not going to raise my kids to be racist.

Back to page top

By what standard are you raising your children- your own perspectives and opinions? Secular idealism? What do you mean by "raising them right?" If you are teaching them homosexuality is OK, you are surely not teaching them what is right from a Biblical standpoint, but maybe you aren't Christian. Maybe you aren't Jewish, either. Or Muslem. Hopefully you have a basis for whatever you are teaching them.

When explaining these things to your children, I hope you are also explaining that there are those who follow a standard so they are at least raised knowing there is a reason for these other "perspectives" so they will be prepared with an adequate "defense" when they are confronted later in life. Like every one else in this nation, at some point in their life they will be asked if they believe in Jesus Christ. Would you teach them to say no?

By the way, sexual preference has nothing to do with racism. Don't confuse this with gender, either. A male is a male, it does not matter what a surgeon removes or what a hormone enhances, check the plumbing. (Genetic hermaphrodites, that's a differnt and extremely rare issue).

Wow, what part of me...

Back to page top

Wow, what part of me accepting people for who they are, implies I don't beleive in Jesus Christ?
My basis for what I am teaching my children, is that, as a human, we are allowed freedom of choice. And I'm not going to judge someone based on their choices, just because someone's interpertation of God's word says it's wrong. Regardless of what you might believe, the bible was written by man, interpreting God's words. I personally do not believe God is against gays..regardless of what the bible says. And if you try to tell me I'm "evil" for not taking everything in the bible literally...you try to tell me honestly that you follow, to the letter, everything that is written in the bible.

Who wants to twist my words to suit their arguments? You all seem really good at that.
There are so many other worthy causes to get fired up about...and there are so many people wasting their energy arguing about gays. Let them be...they're people too.

Personally I have no problem with those who choose to follow the Christian path, but don't ever try to force your ideas on me or anyone else. Your God doesn't condone that, according to your scriptures he gave the choice to use to choose which path we want to follow. So quit your bickering, follow the path you have chosen and I will follow mine and we will get along just fine!

The Constitution does not...

Back to page top

The Constitution does not say all men are created equal, the Declaration of Independence makes that statement. The Declaration outlines the reasons for separation from British rule, stating that mankind has certain inalienable rights under the Laws of Nature AND “Nature’s God.” If there is a particular “law” of nature such as the ability of certain amphibians to naturally change gender based on reproductive needs to sustain the species, these laws can be further limited by the Laws of God. Man is under both laws- Nature’s, AND God’s. Sex change is not natural in humans since one needs to undergo hormonal treatment as well as (in certain cases depending on the person’s desires) surgery; and neither will enable an individual to reproduce in the manner of the sex s/he changed to. Human sex change is not reproductive-based but is emotionally based; it is not natural, it is an artificial alteration performed because some people want it, and man is able to do it. In the animal kingdom, it is natural process based not on emotional sexual attraction but on environmental needs for the species. Likewise, the Natural tendency and sexual drive of humans is limited by God’s Law which states that such actions are to only be done within the confines of marriage, and marriage is to be between a man and a woman. Among other rights, the Declaration states people have the right to pursuit of happiness, but based on the opening sentence of the declaration, this right is also limited within the construct of the Laws of nature AND God. The Declaration continues to outline various ways in which the King had violated these principles, and thereby gives the colonies a right to declare themselves absolved of any ties to Britain.

However, the Constitution is selective as to whom these rights apply, and to what specific rights one has. It also states that we are to “secure our blessings of liberty,” which I might add, is something God grants. “We the People” have the Constitutional right to secure these blessings in accordance with what God established in order to receive these blessings. Simply put, the Constitution gives the People the right to determine a moral standard in accordance with what God has stated. The blessings of this liberty will be in direct accordance with the moral standard we establish. Reject God, and our nation will not receive God’s blessing. You stated the Constitution “promises us freedom of religion to practice what we please,” this is not true. The Constitution does not promise the freedom to “practice what we please” simply because certain religious practices such as human sacrifice go against the principles of God. If properly taken in context with the understanding of God the Founding Fathers had, our freedoms involve only those God grants us, not an absolute freedom to practice or do whatever we want. If God is not your god, that is something you are going to have to deal with; you live in a country where God is God, and Jesus Christ is Lord, and my Bible is a foundational textbook of our nation (that is the way it was supposed to be, but unfortunately the ACLU and special interests are destroying the moral fabric and foundations of our country).

Homosexuality was widely practiced in most cultures except among the Jewish and Christian faiths. Look at the Greeks, Romans, Babylonians, Assyrians, Pagan cultures, and so on. These were all considered heathen and wicked nations for these (among other) practices because God declared these actions an abomination and unnatural. It is a spiritual issue because it is rebellion against God, your desire to do your own thing rather than follow God’s instructions.

Are “homosexual activities” among animals an emotional issue, or a result of a reproductive drive which has gone awry? Aren’t humans different than animals in that we have the ability to control our impulses and urges? Abstinence is practiced by man as a moral choice; morality is another advantage mankind has over animals. We are supposed to be a Christian nation; and I will do as much as I can to uphold that moral standard regardless of anyone’s opinion.

To equate homosexuality with a racism issue is absurd; I know three formerly gay individuals who will say they gradually realized an attraction for the same sex and gave in to that desire. They all later realized their error and admit it is a choice. I had a relative who, as he admitted before he died, had made a "poor choice" of becoming gay. It is a very effective scapegoat to claim one is "born gay," just as much as it is to say one was "born an alcoholic," a claim I could easily make since heavy drinking ran deep in my family and is something I overcame. A person is born into a particular race. You will need much more than a few opinions and controversial "medical statements" to support the idea that homosexuality is not a choice.

I respect and support the right of a person to have and state an opinion, but I do not need to respect that opinion. If you wish to freely and without criticism or hindrance do your own thing, wait until Christ removes His chosen from the earth. Once they are removed, there will be no more obstruction to any of this and for a short time, men will be free to do whatever they desire without moral impediment, to pretend to be “animals without inhibition.” A sad condition indeed. Until then, expect heavy criticism from those who accept, and know, that Jesus Christ is Lord and we live under an absolute moral standard.

The Constitution...The Declaration of Independence, both famous documents, I made a mistake...

Once again your God may not be mine, and I refuse to follow your God's Law...

Also The First Amendment of the Constitution states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I see no mention of any specific religion or any mention of God.

Really? No mention of God?...

Back to page top

Really? No mention of God? Are you attempting to interpret these documents in a secularist perspective when these documents were constructed, debated, and written by men who thought it absurd that a nation be founded without God as a basis? Secularism was unheard of until the Uniformitism movement in the 1800's which spawned the likes of Darwin, Huxley, Freud, et. al.

To whom do you suppose the Declaration of Independence refers to as "Nature's God?" From where do you suppose the writers think "Blessings of Liberty" are granted? Blessing was a term with religious significance as used in the 1700's. Who do you think "the Creator" is in the Declaration of Independence? Who do you suppose the "Supreme Judge of the World" is, and who do you think the writers of the Declaration meant as providing "the Protection of divine Providence"?

"Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor..." -George Washington's first proclamation as President

The mindset of the founding fathers was definitely not one of a nation and politics seperate from God.

Additionally, all the state constitutions at the time had direct references to God. Even today, 8 constitutions reference God, 31 reference "Almighty God," and 4 reference "Supreme Ruler of the Universe."

Congress can not make any law respecting any particular religion, correct. So tell me, what religion is Almighty God? Belief in God is not a religion, it is faith. God is not a Church, Jesus established the Church. Congress is prevented from mandating any particular form of religious practice as a "state religion." Dig into the original documents, arguments, and writings of Hamilton, Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, and others and you will find this is the intention of the First Ammendment; it is not to bar God from government. If so, then the Founding Fathers would not have referenced Him in almost every political speech, public address - congress would not have opened in prayer to God and Jesus Christ specifically as it has even after the First Ammendment was written. I am sure the formulators knew what they meant by seperation of Church and State, and it certainly was not what is happening today. The foundational ideas and thoughts of our founding fathers is well documented, the fact the Constitution does not reference the word "God" is irrelevant because it is a document which identifies the structure of the government and certain rights and responsibilities, not relationships.

The First Ammendment came about largely becuase of Anglican prosecution of Baptists, particularly the Baptists refusing to pay taxes to aht Anglecan church... Anyway, I can go on with a detailed history of the First Ammendment, the Northwest Ordinance, and hundreds of other ordinances, Constitutions, Proclamations, Declarations, and so forth which support and encourage active acknowledgement of God within the government. I am glad to say the Constitution does NOT seperate God and State, just any particular church and State.

But all this is a sidenote of the discussion. The fact remains the fundemental laws and principles which govern our country are founded on Biblical, Judeo-Christian values. Homosexual practices are not one of the unalienable rights endowed by our Creator.

At the close of the constitutional convention, Ben Franklin asked what he formed. He replied, "A Republic, if you can keep it." I am fighting to keep it. My hope is that the Christian Church as a whole will start defending the faith and the morality of our country and prevent this type of behavior from becoming acceptable. You can refuse to obey the "Laws of God" if you wish, that is your right. Defending what I, the Scriptures, millions of other believers in Christ, and our historical documents show to be the correct "way of life" within our country is my right. Cast aside morality and a moral standard, and you have nothing on which to stand.

The writer of both the...

Back to page top

The writer of both the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution used God as a general term there is no mention of the Christian God or any specific God. They also knew that not everyone believes in the same God, even in the Christian faith it is noted that different churches and groups have a different interpretation.

Who is to say that one group is right and another is wrong? Just because you want to jump out and use your God as the standard doesn't mean you can mix it in with morality or otherwise. If you do not want to follow in what you would call sin then don't but DO NOT DENY someone else the right to do an act of love and to ask for the same rights to be establish.

I for one do not believe religion should be involved in our government at all, in any way. Religions tend to be discriminative and Christianity has it's bad points in history (Salem Witch Trails, Crusades), when Christian leaders and followers committed acts that we look back on today and frown upon.

I also do not want to live in a country governed by any one religion simply because I see what happens, look at the middle east, for instance much bloodshed has happened because one religious group comes to power and enacts their beliefs over another group and persecuted another religion, and it eventually erupts into total bloodshed. The same would happen here.

Regardless of who's God is mentioned in both documents, it is our freedom to choose what we want to follow. That is clearly stated in the Bill of Rights under the First Amendment. The issue at hand is not a religious issue and religion should not be involved in the decision.

If you do not agree with that lifestyle don't live it, but the government should allow the rights of a recognized union/marriage to those people, and offer them the same benefits that a heterosexual couple would be offered!

It doesn't involve your religion so keep quiet about what your bible says because I simple don't care what it says. And if you wanna talk scriptures with me bring it on, I have read it from cover to cover, and I have read alot of funny stuff that doesn't make any sense.

The physical reaction that comes when I am forced to see homosexual acts on TV is not fear. Frankly if America would keep ALL sexual activity behind closed doors we would all be better off.

Entertaining Ramblings

Maybe Some people are just screwed up in the brain
and need an injection of commonsense.

Sibling Sex (ya but their in Love....)
Underage rape (Also in Love...)
Man on Man Sex (I guess you have to love him to put it in his fecal matter....)
Woman on Woman (get out the toys)
Why not children marry mom or dad
Why can't we legally have concubines?
Why can't we marry multiple people?
If my dogs have puppies together can they get the state to help pay for the vet bill? I guess if my dogs were homo they wouldn't have puppies.

If I am racist for saying these things
Are you not then also racist for calling me a homophobe?
and signaling me out as an enemy to your rights based on me following my beleifs.

My bottom line is that you have the God given free will to do as you wish. Murder, rape, drugs, slaves, Satanic worship, all these things happen. God lets them through free will. However, The system (universe) is set up with checks and balances. Meaning there are consequences for All Actions big and small. Even if they are not immediate they still are there. (Global warming result of greed, death of future family lines by murder, people not getting a job because to manny others applied, poor health from poor air caused by other peoples lack of care)

A good test to find the consequence is to take the action to the extreme.

Lets take homosexuality to its extreme.. If everyone were homo HUMAN KIND WOULD DIE. who knows maybe that is what happened to the dinosaurs.... No Kids unless being trans-sexual is then permitted with open marriages also being permitted. Then what is the point of marraige Hey anyone can come, Back to the 70's anything goes type stuff. But that is not love that is FUN FUN FUN . Lets be honest. That alone tells you its wrong.
No matter what bible or God you are into or not into.

Where do todays homo couples get their kids. From hetero couples. Then they call themselves Mommy and Mommy or Daddy and Daddy. And when their kids ask where babbies come from? They say from Hetero sexual couples. The real family builders.

If you want to be homo be homo you can do what ever you want honestly I can't stop you. But do not ask me to pay for something I do not endorse. And do not call me racist for teaching my children common sense. I do not endorse any aspect of homosexuality and that is MY RIGHT.

Look here is the deal you Homos need us Heterals for the human race to continue on. We Heterals do Not need you Homos. I beleive the reason for taxes is to promote the building, maintenance (care)and protection of society. Heterals are neccessary for society building. Homos are Not. Sure the people who may be homo can help maintain society however the fact that they are homo is of no importance. Any number of people living together in any manner can rear children or care for others who need care. Although the quality of that care may be in question. Where as in a heterosexual relationship there is by nature the possibility of true society building.

How about this for a Challenge. If homos are supposed to be equal and all.

Start your own Homo society with no heterosexuality at all. You could call it Homoville. I beleive it would last for about 1 generation. (homosexuality alone can not build societys, and by the prior example they are actually descructive to society, therefore homos should not be entitled to the rights heterosexuals enjoy because heterosexuality is of more social value than homosexuality.)

Think about it you would have to have a completely open sexual society to reproduce. You would end up with no true family structure at all. (we would be animals)

Mom who is my daddy. uh... not your other mommy but one of the daddys of your friend down the street. And your friend was from your other mommy but she gave up rights to him so the daddies could have a child also.

If I were to build a herd I surely would be the fool to expect it to come from 2 animals of the same sex...
Homo relationships are not society builders. That is why Hetero couples should enjoy extra rights.

I do not have a general Hatred for Homo People. However,
I do not like the endorsement of homo behavior. Good old regular common sense says what homos are doing is wrong.

Unfortunatly, to be totally honest it is only a matter of time till you get what ever rights you ask for.
In a democratic society you do not need to be right to get the bone you only need to be the loudest dog barking. That is why I am greatfull Heaven is not a Democracy.

Thank you for enduring my ramblings. You will either be a fan or hate my guts. But, all in all you should be greatfull with my honesty and straight forwardness or at the very very least somewhat entertained by it.

Back to page top

Ok First off.. To offer the same rights to a homosexual couple that heterosexual couples enjoy isn't going to cost anyone...

Lets talk some small injustices:

The family members of a patient in a public facility have the right to be notified if the patient is moved or if the patient’s care has changed. These facilities are not required, however, to notify the same-sex partners of patients. (Section 246.70)
The spouse of a hospital patient is the first person a physician would consult if the patient were unable to consent to treatment. The same-sex partner of a patient is not included at all on the list of people who may provide consent for treatment. (Section 253B.03) In some cases, same-sex partners might not even be allowed to visit a partner in the hospital, even with legal paperwork describing the couple’s wishes.
An individual seeking an accessible place for a disabled family member to rent has first priority. Lifelong but unmarried partners of disabled people cannot exercise the same priority on behalf of their partners. (Section 363A.40)
Health or accident insurance policies may cover two people, as long as the second person is a spouse or a dependent. However, a same-sex partner does not have a statutory right to be included in a joint insurance policy. (Section 62A.03)
Spouses are entitled to workers’ compensation benefits if their spouse is killed at work. However, a long-term but unmarried partner is not allowed to receive similar benefits. (Section 176.111)
A person has the right to take an unpaid leave of absence from work if a spouse is injured or killed during active military duty. A domestic partner is not allowed the same opportunity. (Section 181.947)

Thats just a few...

As far as morality and nature's law, homosexuality is pretty common place and therfor there is nothing un-moral about it until you mix in religion...perhaps it is a form of population control, and you straight couples should keep your pants on more often!

Regardless of the morality or purpose of homosexuality it should be noted that you don't have to support it, but you should respect others decisions. This is not just your domain on planet earth we all share it, and until your god shows his face and says it is wrong, then I am sorry you will never change my mind.

Back to page top

You took a huge leap banderson. Because you think homosexuality is common place does not make it moral or "normal". (the huge number of drug addicts comes to mind) In the animal kingdom homosexuality does not show up until space, food i.e. resources are at such a shortage the population HAS to be controlled. It is a blatant sign there is something amiss in the animals society. Historically many societies have tried to make homosexuality just another choice. Ancient Rome comes to mind. It doesn't work! For society to be healthy we need strong families. By its nature homosexuality can not naturally produce families. The tax laws are there not to give heterosexual couples more rights they are there to HELP them raise families because society needs families. It wasn't meant as a direct slam to you and yours. It is about the continuation of SOCIETY!!See religion does not have to come into it at all. There are other reasons than religion that homosexuality is not a positive force. I get it, we are living in an age when all sorts of life choices have to be tolerated. That does not make them healthy, happy,or the BEST choice. I do not see why Society owes you the same opportunities when you are not helping Society survive. Yes, you are here and you are to be respected and allowed to make your choices, but no we do not have to like them or help you do things we know to be WRONG. I am tired of being told homosexuality is not a choice. You could chose to live chastely!! Sex is not required to sustain life. Your life is what it is because of the choices you made. With every decision we make we say NO to some opportunities.

You make me laugh arcy, "In the animal kingdom homosexuality does not show up until space, food i.e. resources are at such a shortage the population HAS to be controlled." Well maybe the world is over populated with humans then....
As far as living chastely that wouldn't be fun, and deny me the sexual experience everyone else gets? No way! On top of that HOW DO YOU KNOW IF HOMOSEXUALITY IS A CHOICE? Have you ever been a homosexual? I am a homosexual and I KNOW I did not wake up saying oh I am gonna be a homo, no I find the female undesirable, and the male desirable, furthermore I did not choose to be out casted from society. I DID NOT CHOOSE ANYTHING bottom line!

As far as Rome goes look at the history, Rome stood for a VERY LONG TIME, and was at that time a world power much like we are now, all governments falter, and collapse eventually, someday it will even happen here, it may not be soon, heck it could be 500 years away, but it will happen.

Well, God did show his face,...

Back to page top

Well, God did show his face, none of us were born yet. He did say homosexuality was wrong, among many other forms of sexual immorality; including premarital sex between men and women which is called fornication.

I have said plenty in this post, simply put I have just as much right to speak out against homosexuality and encourage our lawmakers to deny equal rights to those who practice this stuff. I could care less if a homosexual "couple" do not get medical benefits, they have no more right to these benefits than I would if my best friend needed to be hospitalized.

As long as the Christian, Jewish, and other faiths have a say in what we want to allow in our society, then hallelujah and praise God! "We the People" have the right to determine and set the laws of our country regardless of our "religion" or beliefs, I am just grateful that, so far, there are enough people of faith (and even some without) that realize the lifestyle being crammed down our throats through the homosexual agenda is just plain wrong.

He has never shown his face...

Back to page top

He has never shown his face to me, and I am sorry but your fairytale about an invisible man in the clouds is pretty silly and funny if you ask me.

I also think he would know since he is "all knowing" that I personally need proof, I cannot go by what someone else says...that's just the way I am.

Ok, let me tell you about...

Back to page top

Ok, let me tell you about this "invisible man in the clouds" that sounds silly and funny to you. Actually, He has never appeared to me, either. Nor have I audibly heard His voice. Since I was born, I was raised Lutheran, went to bible camp, bible school, and all that stuff, so I am very familiar with what sectarian religion and self-centered religious piety and man's religious traditions are all about - religion, by the way and as you know if you read the Bible as you claim, makes the power of God of no effect and is useless for salvation.

As I grew, I bacame more "educated" and learning the sciences, began to question my faith and realized the Lutheran religion was just one of many perspectives based on man's interpretation of the scripture. I started blending science and religion and investigated other forms of "mystic Christianity" such as the Free Masons, Rosicrucians, Scientologists, and Dianetics. Eventually I believed the best combination was the occult, through which me and my inner circle came to "realize" that Christ himself was a mystic and must have practiced various
forms of mystical arts as taught through the knowledge and skills passed down from Solomon, according to the Rosicrucian, Freemason, Zoroastrianism, and other teachings. Somewhere in there must have been "the truth."

Along the way, I could use different scriptures to justify and rationalize my behaviors such as drinking, marijuana use, swearing, and occult practices, to name a few. I became quite adept at Ruins, and got to the point where I could control things - cats, dogs, put out candles, move curtains and so forth by using the Ouija board - no trickery, no wires or strings. I would summon my "personal medium," who went by the name of Zachary and provided me a detailed history of his life prior to his death in the civil war. All through the Ouija of which I was the "local expert" at the time. I began using learning tarroh and ghost writing shortly after.

During this time I experienced, and not suprisingly, a great deal of "supernatural phenomena" and had constant fear of being alone in my house because things would move - dresser drawers would shake, clothes would fall off hangers, doors would open and shut, and I always had the feeling of being watched.

All during this time I would still claim God is god, Jesus is Lord, but the Bible was just a bunch of stories with just some truth scattered hear and there along with a little history. Since, I was convinced, Jesus must have practiced some of these "arts," I was going to use the spiritual world for good - promote healing, provide comfort, and so on so I began reading about spell casting and researching incantations and minor "white magic" means of manipulation. I found one could use incantations to "control" spiritual agents to perform basic tasks such as scaring the ******ens out of the kid that was bullying you at school, and generating nightmares in people you wanted to "teach a lesson." I stopped learning about spellcasting and demon summoning when one of my aquaintences succeeded and was driven to torment and eventually killed himself to escape it.

So if you try to tell me the spiritual is not real and this is all some kind of imaginary "fairy tale," I will say you are most definitely wrong- your lack of experience in these matters makes you absolutely unqualified to make that statement. (Of course, you have the right to say it but that does not mean you are correct.) These are some of the experiences I went through. Track down some one who practices - well, to be safer, track down some one who used to practice - the occult, and you will hear similar testimonies. Less adviseable, get involved in it yourself if you want indirect proof of the spiritual. Satan has no issues with making his presence known, his purpose is to draw men away from God by any means possible. God works by faith, and faith alone. I'll get to that shortly.

This all came to a crossing point after my third year in college (a Lutheran college, by the way). During this time I was starting to realize perhaps things were not going so will, the "occult" was not the right path. I
could not afford college, all my funds were being wasted on partying and drinking. I never went to classes and failed most of them for attendance, but was able to generate some income by tutoring chemistry, physics, and
mathematics. I also began studying the history of Christianity and starting realizing that, instead of going though my mediums, perhaps I should start asking Christ, so I did. Within a week, there was a knock at my door and there stood someone who said they were "sent" to answer my questions. Obviously not a Christian, this person asked if I really wanted answers and proof as to what the occult can do. I replied I was looking for answers, and he said he would summon his medium through the Ouija and its appearance would demonstrate the real power of the occult. I only needed to put away my Bible, admit that Christ did not have all the answers and was in fact hiding some of them, and invite this "new knowledge" into my life. I declined, he left, and my life completely fell apart.

I fell into deep depression. My car broke down, and so I lost the only major source of income I had, selling vacuum cleaners. School was out, so there was no more tutoring. I got a summer job, and lost that to the unions who kicked all us "temporary workers" off the site. I seriously contemplated suicide and finally called out to God that if He had the answers, to show me the way, and I would listen. I even sent a letter to a church and asked them to pray for me. And you know what? Nothing happened. I heard no voice, I got no comfort, I experienced no "warm fuzzies" or anything.

Thoughts of suicide faded. I picked up a "new car' for $100, packed everything up, and moved back with my parents where I got a job. I still drank, partied, and so on. I burned my Ouija and denounced the occult and started reading my Bible, realizing what I had been practicing was a different kind of abomination. I got married (this is an altogether different story) and started having kids. Where I was living, Mormons were predominant and started knocking, so I studied there religion and spent a few years learning and discussing the issues of Mormonism. Jehovah Witnesses were coming around also, so I also researched them. Rejected them both, another story. Rejected Catholicism, rejected the United Methodists, rejected all forms of "organized, traditional religion." After eight years, God still gave me no answers. Family responsibilites curbed my drinking (I was still chewing 3 cans of Skoal and smoking 3 packs every week). I was still seeking answers, and began investigating different militia groups and what they offered - another story.

I revoked my SS#, quit paying taxes, and mailed out all the proclamations, asseverations, affidavits, and all this other junk to remove myself from the control of the wicked governments of the world. hook, line, and sinker - I thought I had the answers and thought I was doing the "right thing." Went through this for 3 years, and then the IRS started knocking. Legal troubles were brewing. I asked God for help and "cast my burdens upon the Lord." Guess what? Still no answer. The IRS was still there. I was having problems with my "religious objector" photoless driver's license - not all police officers, banks, and so on seem to think they are legit.

Motives? I was trying to do the "right thing," seeking answers, but all that was coming were problems. Depression, strange medical problems, miscarriages, and anxiety attacks came and went with my wife and I all
during this time, and I was asking God, "Why?" No answers. As the "high preist" of my house (the husband's
responsibility according to scripture) I tried the things the Bible stated - laying on hands, casting out demons, proclaiming the Blood of Jesus for healing. Nothing happened.

Does the Holy Spirit work through people, even those who are not "saved"? Perhaps you don't believe it, but I do. I had not attended church for over 13 years. I got married in one as a formality; I went to Easter and Christmas services as an acknowledgement and "duty." I went to a few here and there in my search. There was
another I was looking at, and dismissed as not for me. One day I had decided to check it out anyway on my way to work, but then decided not to. As I drove past I was filled with a sense forboding - hard to explain. So, I turned around and went to that evening's service. During that service, I discovered I was not saved, and asked Christ into my life is a decision of surrender and realization of my condition, not as something I was going to "try."

Guess what? The only "revelation" I recieved was that I was going to hell, but am no longer. No voices, no "word from God," no answers from heaven. Just a complete sense of inner peace and joy (joy is not an emotion). The IRS was still there, I was still getting cramps and pains throughout my body. I misunderstood great portions of the scriptures. I also learned I was missing things. I learned religion was not the answer. I learned about the Holy Spirit, and only after I accepted him also- then I started getting answers, but it took work. I had to understand there was no form of Christianity in existance which was untainted by man's opinion and interpretation. I had to learn there was no Bible which was 100% accurate- you have to go back to the original
languages of Hebrew, Chaldean, Assyrian, and Greek and learn about the culture at the time to understand certain details in the scriptures. I also learned some people need a deeper understanding, while others are completely satisfied with the limited knowledge they have. I learned that believing was not enough. Neither was laying on of hands, or prayer. Fasting is the real key when combined with everything else. salvation is an individual experinece in which each person needs to find out what their requirements are.

Only after fasting AND prayer did my life begin turning around. After a 5-year struggle to quite tobacco, I fasted. My addiction was erased. As was my routine, I went to bed with a nicotine buzz, and that was the first thing I did as soon as I was awake. That night I did the same, but when I woke up there was no desire for tobacco. I looked at the can, and it "disgusted" me. I went throught the day, through the week, and have gone over 8 years without an urge, without any withdrawl symptoms I had experienced before. It was the same with the
alcohol. All those addictions and urges were wiped out.

Another time my mother had a cancerous growth on her hand, she was scheduled to go in the next day to have another biopsy done. I laid hands on her, and commanded healing, the tumor dried up that night and there was no
trace - here doctor said he had never seen anything like it. I learned about generational curses, consequences, and demonic activity which remains in ones life sometimes, and fasted and prayed to cast that stuff off. I saw immediate changes. The IRS granted me favor, finances started coming in to pay off the debts. My health was restored, my wifes health was restored, and these "strange ailments" and other things have never surfaced since.

In Jesus' name I have cast out demons. I have seen healings and restorations. Am I perfect? No. Do I have sin in my life? Yes, there are and always will be things that God points out I need to work on. My redemption started with the "big" items - I had to deal with rebellion first, by realizing God was the final authority, and He expresses His will through the scriptures. I had to deal with my ego, arrogance, and pride. I had to deal with my mouth and bad language. I had to deal with pornography. I had to take personal accountability for all of my actions. i still spout my mouth off from time to time and say things I shouldn't (I no longer cuss however, and those words no longer "pop" into my head).

I have absolute faith in this "invisible God" simply becasue I do have first-hand experinece in both sides- wickedness and destruction through the occult, and life and restoration through Christ. Satan works through evidence, God works through Christ, through faith. As I found out and once thought, He does not live in the clouds but walks among us, and resides in us. Though I am very skeptical, there are a few Christ has appeared to in person; but the only genuine accounts I really believe are from those who have exceeded and demonstrated there faith through their works, and Christ has commanded or revealed things substantiated by scripture becasue God will never do or say anything against His word or commandments.

Is the Bible literal? Yes. Is it figurative? Yes. Is it difficult to understand? Sometimes. Yes. No. It is written simple enough that everyone can understand the basic message of salvation, but detailed enough that the deeper things of God are revealed through it, but only through faith and the help of the Holy Spirit.

Maybe this is all just a "nice story" to you or maybe you say it is all nonsense, but rest assured my faith is not blind and is not based on some pastor's preaching. Why didn't God work in your life, why didn't He "answer your prayers" during your "holy roller days?" I don't know. Perhaps you were just "tryng Chiristianity." Perhaps you were praying without believing. Maybe you didn't let go of your pride, your sins... maybe you were holding unforgiveness in your heart. I do know these things held me back and there
are many other things which hinder prayers - God does not hear all prayer; He said so Himself.

You will not be able to sway me from my faith because I can guarantee I have heard and looked into just about every accusation against Christianity that there is and found them without merit, plus I do have personal experiences. If you want to get into a discussion about the scriptures, then I will be happy to oblige - everything I stated in this and every other post I placed can be verified and substantiated. Where would you like to start? If you do not, and don't wish to understand why I believe what I do and why Jesus Christ is a reality, then fine, you can go your way. Understand this- I have seen a lot, heard a lot, and know people who have done just about everything, for Christ and against Christ so you can't offend me, but you can disgust me. I don't hate you, but I do hate your sins; I hate my sins also. I won't call you names, I won't ridicule you. We both have fundemental reasons for believing what we do, let's find out.

Can we have a discussion? Feel free to ask whatever you want to ask. If through this blog, then that is fine. If through email, mine is gwilenius@yahoo.com and you are free to copy anything I write into this blog, as long as you don't lift anything out of context. And no, I am not gay. Long ago I had the opportunity, and turned it down.

"Of course, you have the right to say it but that does not mean you are correct." Listen to yourself, "that does not mean you are correct."

OK, You are allowed to believe in whatever you want, just as I am...

But you should not bring your lord, god or anything of that sort and try to force it upon anyone else, including me. I personally do not believe in the Christian faith, but for you or anyone to come along thinking they can sway my choice I am sorry, not gonna happen.

Now onto the larger issue, this is not god's kingdom, this is the USA a country where we can all be equal underneath the law, the law currently discriminates and it needs to be changed!

If you want to follow your god and his word follow it, but don't tell me that I also have to follow that path! Why should you worry anyways about our worldly government, the only government you should worry about is the one you believe your going to after death.

As far as the spiritual world, many religions believe in a spiritual realm, it is not just found in Christianity.

And your story about how your god influence your life, I am sorry but I am sure if I look enough I can find someone else that worships cow dung that will say "it saved my life, and did all these miracles..."

I am not here to call you names or anyone or ridicule your faith, as I have said over and over you can believe what you want, all I ask is you keep it out of my life, I don't want to hear about it, I don't want the laws that affect me to be influence by it, and I want the freedom to choose what I want.

banderson - I applaud you...

banderson - I applaud you for standing up for your rights and your choices. However, I hope you realize your statements will change few, if any, in Hutchinson. It has taken me a long time to realize this myself. For you, it's speaking/writing about issues, hoping to educate people so that they can make a well informed choice. Unfortunately, reason often falls on deaf ears in Hutchinson. I grew up there- I know how close minded many people can be. Despite progressive, logical, "up to date with the times" thinking - many people will not see your point. Often, your opinions just fuel the fire. My opinions have fueled the fire many times on this newspaper board. I even wrote a few pieces in high school for this paper - which were censured, nonetheless. It's not popular to talk about things that might shake the town up. It's easy to feel passionate about something, but it's very hard to educate and persude someone who doesn't want to be educated. I know this, yet I find myself having so much to write on this issue, knowing that my thoughts will be brushed off by many.

People, myself included, will always find arguments to support their own positions. Many use the Bible to support their own positions - this argument being one of the most popular. Many will use passages from the Bible - word for word, interpreted literally as it's written - to judge and condemn Homosexuality. However, do the same people interpret the Bible literally, in regards to women and their rights? Are women meant to simply obey their husbands? Are women property of their family until married, in which they become property of their husbands? Do we still follow ancient rules, customs, etc, in regards to how we practive our religion? Are these people still observing the Sabbath in the same manner it was observed two thousand or more years ago? There are so many arguments to be made from the Bible, but if you are going take some passages from the Bible literally, you should take all of them literally. No cherry picking should be allowed. I find it hard to believe that God didn't intend for his word to change and grow with us as we change and grow as a society.

I feel bad that the original post has turned into a deep, religious argument. I am thankful that I work for a company that allows me to insure and provide for my "Domestic Partner." My domestic partner just happens to be a man, and I am a woman, but the benefits would be the same no matter our sexual orientation. My domestic partner is a full time student, and works full time at a job that does not offer health benefits. Without my companies progressive policy on benefits, we could be in a very tough spot, financially. I fully support same-sex benefits. A person is still a person, regardless of sexual orientation, I don't understand why anyone would see them as anything different. I believe all people should be within their rights to provide and protect themselves, their significant other, and any property/financial/emotional aspects that involve the two of them. I hope that my generation will see the day when all people are treated equally, regardless of race, gender, country of orgin, sexual orientation, religious affiliation or lack thereof...

I am sad that it had to goto religion, my hope was to leave religion out of it. I am not a religious man, You couldn't say what I was trying to any clearer "A person is still a person, regardless of sexual orientation, I don't understand why anyone would see them as anything different. I believe all people should be within their rights to provide and protect themselves, their significant other, and any property/financial/emotional aspects that involve the two of them." That is my only goal in this who ordeal is to get our government to offer me and my partner the same rights as a heterosexual couple. That is all, I am not out there to sodomize you or teach that homosexuality is ok (if you wanna teach that to you kid, I could care less), or even change your church. That is not my goal. If only people would step out of their little box and realize that not everyone has the same ideas and agenda maybe they would see that the freedom of choice and the protection of the government is needed. After all Equality is Freedom!

I am very sad that a few people see the need to force their beliefs on those that do have the same idea, this issue has nothing to do with religion and the church, we are not asking the church or any religion to change their ways or anything. Because a few people see it as "un-natural" and their religion condemns it they think everyone should follow suit and not allow it.

There is no state religion established in this country for a reason, The first amendment protects everyone so we all can choose what we want to believe, no specific God is mentioned in The Constitution or The Declaration of Independence, in fact, and if you read "Religion and The Constitution", my latest blog post, you will see that!

If the "Gay Rights Agenda" ever does get past, and equality granted to us under the law, the church will be left untouched and continue to exist, much the same as it has for a long time.

Back to page top

I know, and I agree that no specific God is the intended religion for our country. Many people do not care to know this fact. Just as people interpret the Bible as they see fit for their agenda, many people do the same with our Constitution. People can find many implied rights within our Constitution, if they want to. It would be doing our founding fathers a great disservice if we took their words literally as written. Do we not think they were smart enough to allow our founding documents to change, and mold themselves to fit our country years after they were written? Many do not educate themselves on our founding fathers, or refuse to admit some of the facts. Many of them were scholars of several religlions. People hear what they want to hear, see what they want to see. It's easier to ignore the truth, or ideas you do not like, than educate yourself and then make the decision best for yourself.

You're right. People...

Back to page top

You're right. People interpret things how they want to and see issues through their own eyes. Keep in mind that means that you see Christianity through your eyes and your own experiences. Your failures to comprehend the One,true, living God based on your experiences and upbringing does not change the fact that He alone is the Righteous Judge and will judge all sin. Then we will all realize that our opinions about Him or how He felt or what He said or meant are worthless. He will judge according to His written Word and our obedience to it. I can see the road sign that says 'Bridge Out' and chose whether I want to believe it but my choice does not override the fact that the bridge is out and if I continue on the path I am on I am heading to certain destruction. If you are right and I am wrong and there is no God then we are all going to be okay in the end. If I am right and you are wrong then you are in trouble. People always criticize Christians for 'trying to tell me what to believe'. Well, if you've ever read the Bible you will see in Matthew 28 that as a Christian I am commanded to go to all the world and preach the Gospel to EVERY living creature...' I for one refuse to let your opinion of God cause me to disobey that command from Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. By the way, Jesus Himself was quite narrow minded on many subjects as well as evidenced by His statement in John 14:6 "I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life. NO ONE comes to the Father except through Me." So when you call me narrow minded you have paid me a great compliment and put me in some great company.
banderson, it is unfortunate that you have decided that the Word of God is not valid based on your experiences. But in all actuality, when you decided 'it didn't work' my Bible didn't change, God didn't quit, Jesus didn't fall off the throne and the Holy Spirit didn't go away. The absolute miracles I have experienced through the laying on of hands were not reversed. And no, God does not change. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forver.
Having a strong walk with Christ for 14+ years does not make me an expert but one thing I have learned. I will not debate scripture with someone who has not studied them for themselves. Those people will do EXACTLY what almcitiesgirl accuses Christians of doing...taking one scripture (usually out of context) and making it say what they want. They usually don't have enough knowledge of the Word of God to build a foundation strong enough to hold up their beliefs or opinions. Many people (including people who call themselves Christians) act like the Bible is a buffet table and they think they have the right to pick and choose what they like. That is not the case. With God it is take it or leave it, all or nothing. And that is just the way I want it to be. If I'm not man (or woman) enough to submit to God then I am not worthy of a Savior who gave everything for me. Until I am willing to FULLY submit to Him then I will continue to live a life that is filled with 'good deeds' yet whan all is said and done, will be meaningless to my eternity. You can point your finger at me or anyone else who is trying to live a life dedicated to God and Jesus Christ. You can call us hipocrites, holy rollers or anything else you want. The fact is that I'd rather die doing my best and giving everything I have to live for Him rather than being one of those who quit because it wasn't as easy as they thought it was going to be. One who thought they had it figured out and then at the end of their life, when it is too late, find out they weren't nearly as smart as they thought they were and they couldn't outsmart the creator of the universe. I don't expect to change your opinions because when you kick a rock you only hurt your own foot.

You know what in this...

Back to page top

You know what in this country GOD isn't everything! GOD is not the ruler of this country. There is NO state sponsored religion. Maybe you people are living somewhere else...but I live in The USA, freedom to choose, freedom of religion, and equality. Not your GOD's Kingdom, sorry! And honestly from what I know, "God's Kingdom" would be pretty boring for me, I'd rather go someplace else.

I think what your problem is your force feeding me the bible....almost every post on here against same sex marriage mentions something about the bible...hmmm...thats funny.

Tell me how would Same Sex Marriage affect you? To be honest I doubt it would in any way, or your church or religion.

It is just you and your lame idea that everyone's gotta live their lives a certain way according to some book that you think is something more then what it is. (MEANING: The bible is just a book made of paper and ink written by a bunch of men....pretty much like any other book out there...)

I should write something along the lines: "BIBLE SAYS EARTH IS FLAT" since there is overwhelming biblical evidence of it.

* "Four Corners Of The Earth"
Acts 10:11, Revelation 7:1, Revelation 20:8
* "Ends Of The Earth"
Deuteronomy 28:49, Deuteronomy 33:17, 1 Samuel 2:10, Job 28:24, Job 37:3, Psalm 2:8, Psalm 22:27, Psalm 46:9, Psalm 48:10, Psalm 59:13, Psalm 61:2, Psalm 65:5, Psalm 67:7, Psalm 72:8, Psalm 98:3, Psalm 135:7, Proverbs 17:24, Proverbs 30:4, Isaiah 5:26, Isaiah 24:16, Isaiah 40:28, Isaiah 41:5, Isaiah 41:9, Isaiah 42:10, Isaiah 43:6, Isaiah 45:22, Isaiah 48:20, Isaiah 49:6, Isaiah 52:10, Isaiah 62:11, Jeremiah 6:22, Jeremiah 10:13, Jeremiah 16:19, Jeremiah 25:31, Jeremiah 25:32, Jeremiah 31:8, Jeremiah 50:41, Jeremiah 51:16, Daniel 4:11, Micah 5:4, Mark 13:27, Luke 11:31, Acts 1:8, Acts 13:47
* "Foundations of the Earth"
Deuteronomy 32:22, Samuel 2:8, Samuel 22:16, Psalm 18:15, Psalm 82:5, Psalm 102:25, Psalm 104:5, Proverbs 3:19, Proverbs 8:29, Isaiah 24:18, Isaiah 48:13, Isaiah 51:13, Isaiah 51:16, Jeremiah 31:37, Amos 9:6, Micah 6:2, Zechariah 12:1, Hebrews 1:10

Well I give up...the earth must be flat cuz the bible says so...So what do we want to chat about next?

Now thats a slam in the face to you, and I really don't like doing that, but that is how I see it, it is just a book just like any other. And there are many flaws in the bible...I'd be glad to point some out to you if you want mplsqueer@yahoo.com

Now if you leave religion out of this, I ask you to point out how this is wrong... without religion in the mix you have no place to stand!

The real point - if we can...

Back to page top

The real point - if we can try to get back to it - "Why shouldn't same-sex couple have the same 515 rights and considerations that a heterosexual couple may have?"

This question is as respect to the law of our country, not the law of each person's faith, personal conviction and religion. Where in our Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights or any other federal and state founding documents, does it state that Homosexuals are not allowed the same rights under the law as Heterosexuals? Sure - we can assume and imply many things- but over time we've changed how we interpret these documents - to allow women, people of color, etc, the rights that we once held only for white men. The question here is not if you feel homosexuality is right based off of your religious convictions - the question is if we truly believe that all Minnesotans should be equal under the law. Why is it that if an unmarried man and woman live together, have a child, and suddenly one of them dies - the child stays with the living parent. However, if two people of the same sex live together, have a child, and one dies suddenly - if the other living person in the relationship doesn't have DNA shared with the child - the state can, and has, taken the child away. The same can be done with their shared home.

This argument has nothing to do with religion. Is it right or wrong, to treat homosexuals different than heterosexuals, by the rights of the law? Is it right or wrong to treat women different by law? Is it right or wrong to treat minorities, people of color, people who are handicapped different by law? When it boils down to it, we are all people, regardless of these different puzzle pieces that compose us as individuals. We all have a heart that beats, we require oxygen, food and water to stay alive. We are all, by definition, people. Why do some people have certain rights that others aren't allowed to have?

I'm not asking anyone to change their religious views - and this isn't a religious discussion. It shouldn't boil down to that - because our country has laws upholding religious freedom. One shouldn't be able to deny someone rights given to all people under the law, based off religion. Our laws may have similaries to religous ideas, but our laws are independent from religion. Because are laws are independent from religion, we shouldn't use religion to establish our laws.

Alright, you want to get back to the point and leave religion out of it. Sodomy and same sex marriage is against the law in most states so therefore insurance benefits, etc for same sex couples should not be granted. I am also against couples who live together and are not married being able to include their 'life-partner' in their insurance. If you want the benefits of being married (insurance, tax credits, etc) then get married, according to the law (one man-one woman in most states) and you too can have those benefits. There, no religion, just the law. And as a taxpayer of the US and someone who has to pay my own insurance premiums (in full) I do not support expanding the law to include same sex couples because I do not recognize those relationships as valid based on my belief and the current law.

Those laws you speak of are unjust laws and most were pushed upon us by conservative religious people. Currently there are a few cases of Same Sex Partners that are fighting these laws, and to be completely honest, it is only a matter of time until these rights are give to homosexuals.

There you go. Good job just1opinion. Those are the bare facts. Not only do you not recognize thos realtionships as being valid, but the state does not either.

In fact, maybe we should start a post on why the police have not taken action on these sodomy cases.

banderson, you say those...

Back to page top

banderson, you say those laws are unjust. What makes them unjust? Should we change the laws because 1.7% of the population thinks they are unjust (the appx number of people that are GLBT in the US is 4.3 million people according to the web site http://www.adherents.com/adh_dem.html). Well, maybe we should change the laws that affect the illegal immigrants in the US too since there are appx 36.6 million of them (according to the web site http://www.theamericanresistance.com
/ref/illegal_alien_numbers.html). There are over 2 million people in prison right now so maybe we should change the laws that affect that group of US citizens as well. Where should we stop? You want the laws changed to justify your lifestyle and your choices. If you have that right, so does everyone else. Then we'll have a society where nothing is illegal and you can do whatever you want. Maybe instead of changing our laws you need to change your address. Don't make the country adhere to what you think is right. Go someplace where they already agree with you. Since when does the minority rule? You complain about Christians (217.8 million in the US) telling people what to think yet the small percentage of GLBT's in this country are trying to tell the majority what to think. Last time I checked we kinda went by the theory that the majority rules. Happy New Year.

There may only be 4.3 Million OPENLY gay people in the US...their are many that are not openly gay and live their lives in seclusion.

Also note that that pages is sponsored by a religious group...the numbers seem small....statistical data I have heard is 10 percent of the population is gay/lesbian/bi-sexual... regardless.

You have not pointed out to me how we are telling you how to think, we are not asking religion to change it's mind, nor are we asking religion to accept us, the government has an obligation to protect it's citizens, minorities and majorities. You have the some freedoms and protections, that I do not, think if it was the other way around, would you be upset? Of course you would.

As far as changing my address, sorry not going to happen. I have just as much right to be where I am as you do where you are. I also have just as much right to fight for what I think is righteous and just, as you do to condemn it. I hope in the future people in Hutchinson will open their minds to new ideas and accept not everyone is the same and doesn't think the same as they do.

Again it is not ONLY about religion. Heterosexual couples build families. The government is helping. Why because they hate homosexual couples?? NO; it is purely economic. Heterosexual couples increase society! Healthy societies have healthy heterosexual families. I understand that fact is an inconvenient truth but history has proven it over and over again. You are not being picked on banderson et.al. get over yourselves!

I do not see this as picking on me, I see it as a difference in opinion. Everyone has one, unfortunately some people like to force feed their religion to society, and I think that is wrong. Am I force feeding homosexuality onto you, not in any way, you see, I do not see homosexuality as a choice, if Same-Sex Civil Union/Marriage laws were passed your not gonna turn gay, nor is your child...unless s/he already is. My feeling toward religion...your not going to change them either, so quit trying.

Well, enough is enough....

Back to page top

Well, enough is enough. banderson, I am leaving this conversation. You keep saying I should keep God (religion) out of it. Many people say that about many subjects but when calamity strikes they cry out to the very God they are kicking out of this country. I refuse to keep Jesus Christ out of this or any conversation. He is the center of my life and I owe Him everything and whether you believe it or not, so do you. Psalm 14:1 says' "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" Now, when the Bible speaks of "fools" and "foolishness" it isn't engaging in adolescent name calling. Instead, the word "fool" is used to describe a person who is in a state of moral and intellectual dullness. And that says it all as far as I'm concerned. Always remember, the truth always outlives a lie. In the end, I know I'm okay and you think you're okay. At some point, we'll all find out. You keep counting the states that fall and increase the moral decline in this nation. I'll keep praying to the one true and living God. Galations 6:7 says, "Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap." Based on all you've written and stand for you'd better hope there is no God.

"just1opinion" Have I pointed something out to you that scared you? Was I too rough, did I shake the foundations of your life?

Thats what happens when you get in over your head! A simple issue has now come down to believer vs. non-believer, and god is real vs. no god.

Now I think in the future if you wanna debate about an issue leave god out of it, he doesn't rule over me, if you wanna follow that you can but keep it to yourself!

You go right ahead and think...

Back to page top

You go right ahead and think what you want. You will anyhow. To quote what I wrote earlier, 'Instead, the word "fool" is used to describe a person who is in a state of moral and intellectual dullness.' You actually think you proved something with your foolish bantering? You actually think you said something I would even consider as valid? You actually think your foolish talk could override the dozens of miracles I have witnessed with my own eyes? You are a greater fool than I thought. I don't debate with little children and I will not debate with you. My God needs no defense and your lifestyle is defenseless. You talk with all the words your little group of GLBT's can muster and you say nothing that hasn't been spoken before. I speak of the things of God that I have personally experienced or seen. I don't need to fall back on some feeble excuse of 'I was born this way' to compensate for the shortcommings in my life. You are the one who 'tried' God and failed. You are the one who got in over his head. You said in an earlier post, 'There may only be 4.3 Million OPENLY gay people in the US...their are many that are not openly gay and live their lives in seclusion.' Well, there is only one reason they are inseclusion...they are ashamed. I am not ashamed of Jesus so what are they ashamed of? The fact is even they know it's wrong and deep down inside so do you. Yeah, you will say they don't come out because society will treat them wrong. The fact is Christians are treated worse in the media than any other group of people in the US. Watch most TV shows and you'll find the mockery of God and His people. Yet, I am not ashamed. I pray in tongues daily, raise my hands when I praise Him and read the Bible daily. The reason I do this without being ashamed is I know that my Redeemer lives. Stop patting yourself on the back thinking you actually proved something before you hurt yourself. If this response is edited by the paper I'll be happy to email it to you personally.
