Machine Gun Joe's Ram from 'Death Race'By now you may know the '70s cult classic "Death Race 2000" is getting a big-budget remake, courtesy of Universal Studios.

It stars Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ian McShane and Joan Allen and it's due in theaters Aug. 22. If you can't wait that long for your dose of heavy metal mayhem, the kind folks at Jalopnik have all the information you need to stage your own Death Race.

You might recall last summer I mentioned director Paul W. S. Anderson (“Event Horizon,” “Alien Vs. Predator”) is working on a big-screen adaptation of the classic video game “Spy Hunter.”

I don't have any more news to report, but Pontiac has given us a tantalizing glimpse of what a “Spy Hunter” film could look like. A new commercial for the Pontiac G8 is making the rounds on the Web. Check it out below, it rocks.
