Beverage to Discover

Here are some nice recipes to warm up with as the weather starts to cool. Leave them on low or warm during the day so you can enjoy off and on as you experience the fall weather

CROCK POT TEA

1 can (frozen) of apple juice
1/2 to 3/4 cup of 100% instant tea
2-3 cloves, whole
2-3 cinnamon sticks
Put ingredients in a crock pot on high. Cook for 1/2 hour, then turn on low or warm. Serve with slices of orange or a fresh apple slice.

MULLED CRANBERRY CIDER

1 small orange, peel and juice only
8 cups of cranberry apple drink
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon whole cloves
Cut the orange peel into strips. Combine orange juice, cranberry juice and brown sugar in the crockpot.
Put the cinnamon stick and cloves in a cheesecloth sachet or use a large tea ball. place in crock pot, cover and cook on low for 5-7 hours or 2-3 hours on high.
Remove spice bag and serve

HOT APRICOT CIDER

36 ounces of apricot nectar
2 cups water
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
In crockpot, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours. Stir once. Stir and serve in mugs with a slice of lemon

MAGIC GROG

Leave out the alcohol if you wish
4 cups apple cider
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup dark rum (like Meyers)
1/4 up brandy or cognac
2 teaspoons Grand Marnier or Cointreau
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
salt to taste, just a pinch, it brings out all the other flavors
1 orange sliced thin
1 lemon sliced thin

Put all ingredients into a crock, simmer till warm. Serve in mugs with slices of lemon and oranges if desired.
