Here's how we rank - football statistics

Every Tuesday, the Star Tribune runs a honor roll for football statistics for 5A, 4A and others. Hutchinson players rarely make the honor roll because stats are not updated on any preps site.

So, I kind of keep my own stats for the season. Here is the stats I have...I have taken these straight from the drive sheet that a student manager writes down except for the Farmington game, in which stats were provided via the Farmington Independent.

Tigers Team Rushing
Att-yards-tds
265-1,522-15

Tigers Team Passing
Comp-att-yards-tds-ints
11-24-147-2-4

Tigers Team receiving
Comp-yards-tds
11-147-2

Individual Rushing
Jacob Brusehaver 108-605-8
Jaedon Scott 110-692-7

(Note: Only three 4A running backs in the metro area - Steve Johnson, Mahtomedi, 1,045; Leandro Dower, Mpls, North, 749; and Cody Schmidt, Northfield, 738 — have more yards than our two)

(Second note: Brusehaver's eight TDs only trail Johnson, 14 and Chris Leivermann of Waconia, 10)
Michael Hantge 30-149

Erik Bute 2-6
Adam Katzenmeyer 1-3
Seth Hintze 9-43
Trent Kucera 4-24
Brad Muckenhirn 1-6

Soccer fans, here is a good read. Marshall is facing the same issues that Hutchinson is:

Another Free Press story - Olympian Lindsey Berg visited the MSU-Mankato volleyball team - this had to be a cool opportunity for Hutch's Brittany Stamer

Junior Ashley Wittman of Shakopee has verballed Minnesota. Wittman is a 6-1 Outside Hitter for the #1 AAA Shakopee Sabers. Wittman played with Northern Lights 16-1s this past JO season.

Wittman is the 2nd player in the Minnesota 2010 class to verbal. She joins Tori Dixon of Burnsville as a Gopher 2010 recruit.

Girls Soccer at Hutchinson...

Girls Soccer at Hutchinson High School has enough players to make a varsity team, so I'm not sure why you are saying that we have a similar problem as Marshall High School. Marshall soccer has only 7 girls playing on the boys high school soccer team who are between 7th and 12th grade... Hutchinson has about 18 girls on the Girls JV team
(9th to 12th grade) and 20 girls on the Middle School team (6th to 8th grade). With these kind of numbers, the Hutchinson girls will never have to play on the boys team. They will always have enough players to make a girls team... unlike Marshall.

My point wasn't that we don't have enough girls, but rather that Marshall is a newer soccer program, and yes, sometimes a new program faces challenges such as lack of numbers. It is a good read to see what other districts our size are doing with the addition of soccer and to figure out why they are not working and not do that so our programs grow and succeed.

Thank you for clarifying. I did read the article about Marshall, that you linked to, and like you said, it is a good read about the challenges that Marshall has faced with girls soccer. Hutchinson can learn from this also. I'm just surprised with all the other girls fall sports at Hutchinson that the girls soccer program was actually able to field a team with good numbers.

Also, Eric... I just wanted to thank you for your good coverage of the soccer program this year. Even with all the other sports that you cover for Hutchinson, you still made time for the soccer program... and as a soccer enthusiast, I really do appreciate it.
