* Whalen and the CT Sun are the best team in the WNBA. With the win, Connecticut is now 13-5 on the season, and 8-2 at home. Because of losses tonight by the L.A. Sparks (to New York), and the Detroit Shock (to San Antonio in OT), the Sun’s 13-5 record is the best in the WNBA.

In tonight’s game, Lindsay Whalen had 9 assists (a season high), giving her 744 for her career. That places her first in Connecticut Sun history. She surpassed Shannon Johnson, who had 737 in her Orlando Miracle/Connecticut Sun career, which lasted five seasons (1999-2003) Whalen broke the record with her third assist of the night which came with 6:14 remaining in the second quarter.

Whalen even picked up a technical foul:
On her technical
“I think I kind of raised my hands. I think it was a gesture. Probably was a little to aggressive in what I said and how I said it more than anything. I don’t remember. It was a momentary lapse. If anyone gets the tech it’s usually Coach. I don’t know what to say about it.”

* Hutchinson native Chris Jensen (21) took first place in the shot put and discus events at this past weekends Star of the North Games Track and Field Meet at Hamline University in St. Paul. 2nd consecutive year he has won gold medals in both events.
