Habitat for Humanity

I just want to say Thank You for all the volunteers that helped build the newest house for Habitat for Humanity what a beautiful home you all built. I hope to help on the next project. Too bad that all of your volunteer work did not go to the best candidate though. Don't get me wrong I am glad a Single mom with kids received the home especially the kids that is the main thing here but when the town of Hutchinson opens up their hearts and helps out a family in need and then gets taken advantage of that really upsets me and I do not think it is right or ethical but who am I to judge. I know I should mind my own business but this has really been bothering me. One of the houses that has been built for a single Mom she I feel has used some bad judgment. Not more than a couple of days after she accepted the home she now has her live in boyfriend living there. If they were married I would not care one bit but I believe in my opinion that they have really taken advantage of the good hearted people of Hutchinson and the surrounding areas. I emailed the Habitat for Humanity about this and there is nothing that they can do which I can understand, I would be angry if someone told me who I could and could not live with but I do believe they should have more of a background process before approving someone for a Habitat for Humanity home.

Apparently you know this person to be able to judge them. Is it possible that their last place was not big enough for the significant other? Or is is a situation of "too many" significant others and this one just happened to be around at the time of the closure?

I don't need specific address or anything, but where was this house built (which development)?

Are you talking about the newest habitat for humanity house which is a duplex? If so, my sister lives on one side of it and I can guarantee you that she has no boyfriend living there with her. She does however have an adult son who stays there often, which by the way is legal. My sister also said that the owner of the other half of the duplex does not have a boyfriend living with her. Just wanted to set the story straight.

This is Pam,the homeowner of the Habitat house you are talking about. The boyfriend with the silver truck happens to be my 19 yr. old son. If you would have come and welcomed me to the neighborhood like most of the other neighbors, you would have known that! Feel free to drop by and I will answer any other concerns you may have. I have nothing to hide. I am very grateful for all the volunteers and many other people for helping me become a homeowner. It's been a dream come true. I worked very hard to make this happen and I do deserve it!

pam,

you are lucky if you had just one person welcome you to the neighborhood. when we moved to a house in hutch, NO ONE came over to say hi. i eventually made my rounds to introduce myself and when i did, they looked at me like i was trying to steal their first born. it's too bad we can't know our neighbors like the "good ol' days". but it seams that air conditioning, televisions and fear of others prevents that from happening.

congrats on the new house, pam, it's nice to see good people doing good things for other good people.
