Depp watch

As my co-worker Kay Johnson recently reported, the next “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie is due out May 24.

Beth is tickled pink, because that is her birthday. We’ve pretty much got our date figured out for that night.

But I think there’s bad news for her and all the other folks out there with big crushes on Johnny Depp. I don’t know if Depp’s going to star in this one! I mean, we all saw Capt. Jack Sparrow get devoured by the kraken in the last “Pirates” movie, right?

Clearly, we’ve seen the last of him, so I’m guessing the third installment in the trilogy will be told entirely from the undead monkey’s viewpoint.

The good news for Depp-vo-tees is he's rumored to star in an as-yet unnamed Freddie Mercury biopic. Mercury was the larger-than-life frontman for Queen.

According to the New Zealand Herald, Robert De Niro and Brian May, Queen’s guitarist, are developing the project.
