'Halloween' (2007)Rob Zombie will very likely direct the sequel to his 2007 remake of "Halloween," according to Shock Till You Drop.
Dimension Films and Trancas International Films are releasing "Halloween 2" in 2010. Shooting is scheduled to start in March, but French directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are off the project.
This is great news, as far as I'm concerned. I know Zombie's reinterpretation of "Halloween" has its detractors, but I love it. I think it's much creepier than the original and offers a unique take on the slasher genre.
Zombie's "Halloween" subverts the classic heroic cycle (which is the basis for crowd-pleasers ranging from "Star Wars" to "Seabiscuit"). In Zombie's demented tale, Michael Myers is something of a tragic anti-hero and an unstoppable evil force. I think that willful perversion of the concepts of good and evil made many viewers and critics uncomfortable. It's also what makes 2007's "Halloween" so interesting. I can't wait to see what Zombie serves up next.
