What was she thinking? Two months old?

» Read similar stories filed under:

A just got word of a lady from the Hutchinson area who does daycare or babysitting, and am very disgusted with what she has done. While watching someones 2 month old baby, some how the baby ends up with a broken leg. How does this happen? I do believe some type of charges are pending, but I sure hope this lady gets put in jail, and while under the care of tax payers dollars I would hope her leg gets broken by the daycare facility she is in (McLeod County Jail). What does everyone else think? How can she be so careless? This is a new born baby not a rag doll. Accidents do happen, but a two month old should not have a broken leg after a day at daycare, I wouldn't even let this person watch my kids if she was my own mother or mother in-law. If the lady who has done this reads this, I would like you to explain why you did this, don't forget the pain you not only put on the baby, but the parents who lost their new born child for a few days because the county first was thinking the parent were the cause. If it was an accident I would sure think you would have taken the time to call the parents, but they had to find out from the doctors after their new born would not stop crying. This is not even my own kid but I am a little ticked off to here of something like this, it's bad enough to hear this kind of stuff on the news and in the newspapers around the world, but this is something that happened in our hometown of Hutchinson, hits kind of close to home. What do others think? What should be done? Post a comment.

I haven't heard anything about this case, other than here. I would think if there is an investigation going on, it should be in some sort of local news source.

I will reserve judgement on this specific case until there are more details, but hope to see coverage on this issue.

Caring for children, your own or others, can be difficult and even trying. Please, providers & parents, if you are feeling tired, frustrated, overwhelmed...take a step back, take a deep breath, and ask for assistance as necessary! Do not harm the children...they are not responsible for your inability to cope. You need more training or support if you have any sense you may harm a child.

i agree, if this was an act of abuse, the person responsible should be in prison with the key tossed away for good.
hopefully this story is just rumor and not true. but if it is true, hopefully some 'facts' were left out & it was just an accident---she could have easily slipped on ice while holding the baby. maybe she didnt even know he/she was seriously hurt?
i know im reaching here but i have a hard time believing anyone can purposely harm a child. i know they do, i am not naive. i just hate the thought that its happening to a child of any age. abuse against kids has got to stop.

Keeping an open mind here...

Back to page top

Keeping an open mind here not even by accident is this exceptable. If this woman was watching this child and had a "accident" she should have notified the parents and met them at the hospital. This woman should at minimum recieve a child endangerment charge.I have raised 3 children to adulthood have grandchildren and have been a fostercare provider as well as a daycare provder in my past and protocall for this type of thing merits it to be followed. In "NO WAY" could a 2month old hurt themselves. This provider needed to extra cautious in handleing this child in every way . There are absolutly "No Excuses Here"!

So far, what we are commenting on is hearsay. This is why I prefer to withhold judgment. I fully agree that a person that has been found to be guilty of harming a child should be given the harshest consequences available under law. If no charges have come forth yet, and an investigation is still happening, then it is premature to say what the consequences should be in this case.

Does anyone but me wonder what has happened here?? Does this family have connections with the police, county or even the press that we have not heard of anything about this??? Knowing about this case makes me wonder. If you are well known in this community you do get treated a bit differant than someone who is not "well known" Lets get to the bottom of this! Or should we wait till it happens again??? Think about it!
