One way that Ridgewater College could cut expenses is to give the East Campus building on the corner of 2nd Avenue SE and Michigan Avenue in Hutchinson back to the Hutchinson school district. It appears that the college has been trying to find a use for the building so that they don't have to give it back to school. While 'controlling' buildings may be in Ridgewater's best interest, it isn't in the best interest of Hutchinson and Minnesota tax payers. If Ridgewater gave the building back to the school system, the school system could sell it to a private business. This would generate income for the school system and for the city (property taxes) and it would save Ridgewater college money.

campuses would see their basic tuition rise from $4,093 to to $4,216
under a plan recommended this week by Minnesota State Colleges and
Universities Chancellor James H. McCormick.
