This stupid Brownton/Stewart rivalry is old and ridiculous! If ya can't get over it, MOVE to Hutch!

Obviously a lot of students have already taken advantage of open enrollment in Hutch as well as the other surrounding districts. They got over it and got out of it by putting their kids in a more stable school environment. I doubt those people would come back to the district now, though most of them, I am sure, still live here and pay taxes.

I don't agree with the closing of the building in Stewart...but something had to be done. I hope you guys realize that if they had chose to close the Brownton building and keep the Stewart building open we would still have this huge fight between the towns, only it would be the Brownton people complaining instead of the Stewart people.

This district is loosing kids over this stupid argument!!! GET OVER IT! Whats done is done! If we want to keep a school here in either of these towns, both towns need to come together and work something out. What WE need to do is to build a new building. It is long overdue! Brownton AND Stewart need to work together in order to do that!

Your selective reading skills on May's website missed the section that reads:

I'm not entering into the debate about whether or not MW should remain open or be closed, because I haven't lived here long enough to form an opinion. What I can tell you is that mold is nothing to mess around with, and just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.

Thanks to the person above who gave the reference to contact Ms. May. I also did some reasearch and found a web site for her and her services. It states the services I qoute:

The pictures and trophies are currently being stored in Stewart somewhere. I assume now that the city owns the school they will be returned to their rightful places soon. And don't forget the Open House the city is having at the Stewart Campus on April 2nd From 3 pm to 9 pm. Come and look around, share your ideas and I believe there’s going to be coffee.

Does McLeod West have a mold problem? The answer depends on who you ask.

Linda K. May, an Illinois-based nurse and health and safety consultant, believes the students and staff at McLeod West School in Brownton are in possible mortal danger.

Doug Schultz, a spokesman for the state Department of Health, said, “It’s generally not our practice to offer opinions on environmental assessments without doing our own on-site inspection.”

But after Schultz and health department staff saw results of a January indoor air quality investigation at McLeod West, he concluded, “Is the school in imminent danger? No.”
