It does sound like a good idea. The question is how many events can one town afford to host/patronize? We are just finished with Water Carnival. I bet the organizers are still recovering. We have the County Fair, Fall Craft fair, dog shows, races at the track, summer musical, all looming, just to name a few. I have a feeling many of the same people are doing the hard work to get this all done, let alone patronizing the events. Do I wish Hutchinson "CELEBRATED" the 4th better, sure but what will suffer to make that happen? We may not do the 4th but Hutchinson offers a lot of summer fun!!

I, too, agree that Hutchinson should do something for the 4th of July. A parade is probably not a good idea as there is a parade during Water Carnival. However, Fireworks would be a great idea. Cans could be placed at local businesses to raise money for them, or hold some fundraisers throughout the year. The fireworks show should really be at least 30 min. long. I would volunteer my time & ideas on a committee to start getting something going for next year.

Sounds like a great idea, It would be nice to have something over the 4th in Hutchinson. I think you should come up with a proposal and bring it before the city council.

I believe the town of Hutchinson should start a big 4th of July event. We could draw a lot of people to town for a fun festive day. We could host a bunch of activities in the santuary for children and adults. I went to Eden Prairie for the 4th and it was a great time. They had bands playing throughout the day beside the lake, had an old ice rink area with a bunch of blow up activities for kids, face painting, people grilling out, concession stands, a beer trailer, (needed a beer garden), and ended with a great show of fireworks over the lake.
