This would raise another question. If it is so risky and dangerous to consume alcohol, why is it legal to even sell it?

Here is one thing to

Here is one thing to remember about being old enough to go to war but not old enough to drink. While not perfect, Boot Camp offers young men and women training on becoming a soldier. How to handle weapons, the pressures of battle, how to protect yourself and the risks and dangers of war. When it comes to drinking (at any age) there is no 3 month boot camp training people how to handle alcohol and the risks and dangers of using it.

I don't agree with lowering the drinking age. But I've always wondered if they're not old enough to drink, are they really old enough to go to war?

LETTER: The other story behind the drinking age debate

From Stephen Wallace
National chairman and chief executive officer of SADD Inc. (Students Against Destructive Decisions)

Behind the fusillade of faulty arguments proffered by the Amethyst Initiative in support of lowering the minimum legal drinking age to 18 lurks an inconvenient truth: Doing so would only exacerbate the current epidemic of underage drinking, further jeopardizing young lives at a critical juncture in their physical, social and emotional development.
