Once I got over the shock that anyone would dare to step into Kirk's sacred shoes, I guess Matt Damon is as good as anyone. I think Gary Sinise would make a great Dr. McCoy, but I'm not sure about Brody as Mr. Spock. I'll have to think about that.

You KNOW I just have to give my 2 cents worth. He is indeed cute. Ironically, I've had his picture posted as an Avatar on a forum I belong to, of our favorite actors and a couple of people mistook him for Christian Bale. I just don't see the resemblance.

My vote was for Red Eye in which he was wonderfully good at being bad. Thanks for the link J. My DH just sent me a pirated copy of The Wind That Shakes the Barley, a pre-IRA movie set in early 20th century Ireland. Sadly, it didn't work in the DVD player we have in our bedroom so I'll try it on the portable this weekend. I'll let all you Cillian spotters know how it is. :^)

I have been in the show (I played Sky) and do not think Meryl can play Donna's role. The part is higher in the vocal range, too high I think for her. Who knows, it may be a suprise that she can sing.

Who else do you think would fill the other roles (Sophie, Sky, Rosie, etc.)?

I think 2007 is shaping up as the year of the sequels. I’m looking forward to:

- “Ghost Rider,” starring Nicholas Cage. It opens Feb. 16.

- “Spider-Man 3,” same cast, new villian, opens May 4.

- “Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End,“ same cast, opens May 24.

- “Ocean’s 13,” same cast with additions of Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin, opens June 8.

- “Live Free or Die Hard,” the fourth :”Die Hard” movie starring Bruce Willis, opens July 4.

- “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” opens July 17.

- “Bourne Ultimatum,” Matt Damon returns, opens Aug. 3.

- “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” starring Nicholas Cage, opens Dec. 21.

There’s lots of possibilities for nonsequels, too. Here’s a few I thought looked interesting …

- “Fracture“ is creating buzz. It is about a young construction worker named Lane who suffers a fatal fracture in his skull and has approximately 11 hours before he dies. In those 11 hours, Lane meets new people, learns about himself and even has an epiphany in which he apologizes to his deceased father. Stars Ryan Gosling, Anthony Hopkins, Paul Newman, Mia Farrow, Kevin Spacey, Rob Lowe, David Strathairn, Michael Rooker, Jeremy Irons, Cate Blanchett, Wentworth Miller, Tea Leoni, Stephen Baldwin, Elden Henson, George Clooney (director/cameo).

- “The Astronaut Farmer,” opening Feb. 23. It’s about an astronaut, who leaves the NASA program to save the family farm. He ends up building a rocket in his barn. It features: Billy Bob Thornton, Virginia Madsen, Bruce Willis, Bruce Dern and Tim Blake Nelson.

- “Wild Hogs,“ opens March 2. Weekend riders meet biker gang. It stars Tim Allen, Jill Hennessy, Martin Lawrence, Ray Liotta, William H. Macy, Marisa Tomei and John Travolta.

More good news ... Word on the Internet is that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have approved the script for "Indiana Jones 4." Harrison Ford returns as Jones. Shooting is expected to take place in 2007, with film opening in 2008. Watch for more details!

Of course we need another ROCKY! I hope that the classic "eye of the tiger" gets some good air-play again. OK, maybe they have overdone this one, but in my opinion it is a classic. I am actually looking forward to seeing if it lives up to the original(that was the best). In reality he should have a better shot at winning a fight now compared to the shape he was in for the first Rocky(did he even weigh 150 back then?).

Is this "Rocky 6?" I can't believe Sylvester Stallone has nothing better to do than recycle his Rocky character. Remarkably, the film is getting good buzz from early reviews. Go figure.

Has anyone seen Mel Gibson's "Apocalypto?" I'm curious about it, but I don't want to sit through the violence. Please post if you have an opinion.
