Weather spotter training
Start: 11:00 am
End: 3:00 pm

Meeker County and the Crow River Area Amateur Radio clubs are sponsoring a free weather spotter training class from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Eagles Club, 389 County Road 34, Litchfield.
Todd Krause of the National Weather Service will provide general spotter information followed by Metro Skywarn amateur (Ham) radio procedures.
The training is open to the public and provides an opportunity to certify or re-certify for a Metro Skywarn number.
Lunch can be ordered from the menu or a cold meat sandwich plate will be available for $5.

Gun safety for women
Start: 7:00 pm
End: 9:30 pm

Cedar Mills Gun Club is sponsoring firearms safety training for women. The first class is from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Cedar Mills Gun Club go-cart track, 1/2 mile north of the junction of state highways 7 and 22 west of Hutchinson. The cost for the training is $15 and must be paid at the first class.

GFWC Woman’s Club

Plato Lions Spring Brunch

Plato Lions Club is sponsoring a spring brunch from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at Plato Hall in Plato. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, toast and beverage. Cost is $6 for adults, and $4 for children kindergarten to age 12. Preschool children eat free. Proceeds support local projects.

Glencoe Christian Women’s Club

Glencoe Christian Women's Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 10, at Orchard Estates, 1900 Ford Ave., Glencoe.

The evening begins with dinner, followed by Shirley Olson and Lona Oltman, who will present “A Peek into the Care Connection.” The Care Connection is Glencoe’s new thrift shop sponsored by ConnectCare.

Autism meeting planned for parents

The McLeod Interagency Early Intervention Committee, Family Support Committee and Arc Central Minnesota are sponsoring an autism panel discussion and break-out sessions from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Peace Lutheran Church, 400 Franklin St. S.W., Hutchinson.

The evening, for parents and extended family and professionals, will begin with a panel of several parents and an adult with Asperger’s, who will share information regarding food and diet and relaxation techniques which have made a difference in their children’s lives.

Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary

Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Hutchinson Community Hospital conference room A/B, 1095 State Highway 15 S., Hutchinson.

Guest speaker will be Mary Ellen Wells, president and CEO of Hutchinson Area Health Care. She will give information on new standards of behavior and performance expectations for HAHC employees, and explain how volunteers play a critical role in a commitment to safe, superior care.

Luce Line RR Club Inc.'s monthly meeting

Members of Luce Line RR Club Inc. will gather for their monthly meeting at their clubroom at Hutchinson Mall. This will be their last regular meeting before the club's annual Spring Rail Fest event April 12 at the Mall. Several model railroads have been invited to display, while sellers of model railroad equipment and railroad books, videos and memorabilia will have about 30 flea market tables set up at the show.

Hutchinson Easter Egg Hunt

The citywide Easter egg hunt will take place on Saturday, March 22 at the McLeod County Fairgrounds, 840 Century Ave. S.W., Hutchinson. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the egg hunt at 10 a.m.

Candy and prizes will be awarded in the following age groups: 0 to 3 years old, 4 to 6 years old, 7 to 9 years old, and ages 10 and above.

Help the hungry on March 27

3M Cares and Feeding Children International of Stewart are sponsoring a Kids Against Hunger food packing day, Thursday, March 27, at Peace Lutheran Church, 400 Franklin St. S.W., Hutchinson. The public is invited to help pack food packages from noon to 2 p.m., 2 to 4 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
Donations are welcome, and can be made by stopping by the food packaging site on March 27. All donations received are applied to the cost of food for hungry children worldwide.

Screening clinics set for new kindergarteners

Free early childhood developmental screenings will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Christ the King Church, 1040 South Grade Road S.W., Hutchinson.
Early childhood screening is performed by nurses, teachers and professionals in the school district. Screening helps parents identify if their child has any health problems, vision or hearing loss, and find help with development, speech or learning problems. Early childhood screening is mandatory before children start kindergarten.
