Eleven candidates competing for two open Hutchinson City Council seats will respond to citizens’ questions at a public forum Wednesday, Aug. 27.
The event, which is expected to last two hours, will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Hutchinson Event Center in Plaza 15, 1005 State Highway 15 S. It will be shown live on HCVN Channel 7.
The forum takes place 13 days before the Sept. 9 primary election. It is sponsored by the Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The candidates include four residents competing for Seat 3, and seven vying for Seat 4. Both seats will have only two candidates after the primary. Mayor Steve Cook is running unopposed on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
The Chamber of Commerce is urging citizens to attend the event and submit questions for the candidates. Those unable to attend the forum may submit questions to the Chamber by calling (320) 587-5252, or e-mailing Chamber President Bill Corby at bill@explorehutchinson.com by Tuesday, Aug. 26. Include your name, your question and if you want your question directed to a specific candidate.
Corby said citizens may submit several questions, but each question should be submitted separately. For ease of asking and answering, do not submit multi-part questions.
