Imagine visiting some exotic overseas country without all the hassles of getting a passport, going through labyrinth of airport security and worrying about whether your luggage will make the trip safely, too. Now imagine not having to leave Hutchinson at all to experience that distant land.
You can achieve that, almost, by attending New Century Charter School’s sixth annual International Holiday Bazaar, a Dec. 11 event at the school that showcases student exploration of the history, foods and customs of foreign countries.
More than a dozen countries will be highlighted at booths that include displays of food preparation, dress, customs and traditions.
Perhaps the biggest is a student-run chili supper, complete with dessert and beverages, to raise money for technology purchases.
The bazaar takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. New Century Charter School is at 1000 Fifth Ave. S.E.
