The search is on for Junior Royalty candidates for the Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival. A girl and boy will be chosen as successors to the 2007 reigning royalty, Junior Queen Eliza Smith, daughter of Dan and Sarah Smith, and Junior Commodore Dylan Reid, son of Andy and Janelle Reid.
The Junior Royalty competition is open to girls and boys who will be between the ages of 7 and 9 the week of the Water Carnival, and must reside in the Hutchinson School District. Children who have won or been finalists are ineligible to interview a second time.
A registration form is available at Culver’s, Dairy Queen and online at www.watercarnival.org. A nonreturnable photo taken within the last six months, preferably of the child alone, must accompany the registration form. The deadline to enter is Sunday, June 1.
Judging will take place Saturday, June 7 at Christ the King Church, 1040 South Grade Road in Hutchinson. Royalty will be crowned at Library Square during ceremonies following the Kiddy Day Parade on Saturday, June 14. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
The new Junior Royalty will attend parades throughout the area during the upcoming year. They will ride the Jaycee Water Carnival float, along with the 2008 Hutchinson Queen and Princess, while representing Hutchinson.
