The Hutchinson Economic Development Authority has obtained a $500,000 grant that will be used to provide a low-interest loan to NuCrane Manufacturing for the purchase of equipment.
NuCrane is building a 53,000-square-foot, $3 million factory along State Highway 7 West, between Hutchinson Manufacturing and the Best Western Victorian Inn. It will build large cranes used in nuclear power plants across the world.
Once NuCrane repays the money, the $500,000 will become part of a new revolving loan fund for the EDA and can be used for other industrial projects.
This is the third grant obtained by the EDA this year. In the spring, $250,000 Business Development Infrastructure grant was obtained from the state for construction of streets and sewer and water lines in the city’s new, eastside industrial park.
That was followed later in the summer by a $950,000 grant from the Federal Economic Development Administration, which also will help develop the new industrial park.
