Do you want the maintenance-free look of vinyl or aluminum siding without the potential risk of the vinyl warping or the aluminum getting dimpled by hail or pulled up by high winds?
You can with CHIC Liquid Vinyl, a permanent co-polymer costing system developed in Canada 24 years ago and now available in the Hutchinson area, said Doug Peters, marketing director for the Fridley-based USVICO.
USVICO recently applied CHIC Liquid Vinyl to its first home in Hutchinson, a house on Main Street that formerly had a dark green paint on its wood siding. It now sports a very little yellow coating of CHIC Liquid Vinyl. It can only be applied by trained, certified contractors such as USVICO.
“No one else is doing CHIC in this area, and it is not available in retail stores,” Peters said last week.
The product is not a paint, but the co-polymer, which is several times thicker than paint, goes on like paint, either with a brush or sprayed. Any color available from any major paint manufacturer can be mixed in.
“But it requires a lot of prep work,” Peters said.
