The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) announced today that the Unemployment Insurance Program’s self-service system on the Internet will be open on Sundays for the next four weeks.
The self-service system, which generally is closed on weekends for maintenance, will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, Jan. 4, Jan. 11 and Jan. 18. Normal hours for the self-service system are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
Applicants who want to apply for benefits or request weekly payments can access the self-service system at www.uimn.org.
“The slowdown in some sectors of the economy, combined with typical seasonal increases in unemployment, has meant that the Unemployment Insurance Program is busier than normal,” said DEED Commissioner Dan McElroy. “Nevertheless, we are meeting the needs of Minnesota’s unemployed workers.”
McElroy said temporarily adding the self-service option on Sundays will help offset lost business hours during the holidays and allow applicants to complete their UI business earlier in the week.
