Two local professors earn top honors
April 7, 2008 - 8:57am — Lesley Christianson
Two Ridgewater College instructors have been awarded the Board of Trustees Award for Excellence in Teaching by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System. Amy Jo Maher, instructor in the Multimedia Design Technology program, and Kathy Steffen, English instructor, each received this honor that is bestowed upon fewer than one half of one percent of system faculty. This is the System’s highest faculty commendation. The award is a reflection of the instructors’ commitment to teaching, continuous improvement, student development, Ridgewater College and their profession. Maher and Steffen will be recognized and honored at a ceremony at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College in Minneapolis on April 16. In addition, Ridgewater will host a reception recognizing their achievements at 3 p.m. Monday, April 28 on the Hutchinson campus. (Lesley Christianson is a staff writer for the Hutchinson Leader.)
