The single biggest drain on Minnesota’s criminal justice system is the methamphetamine epidemic.
According to Dakota County Attorney Jim Backstrom, a meth user might commit an estimated five to seven crimes a week to support a habit.
Backstrom is one of the many people interviewed in the new documentary, “Revealing Meth in Minnesota.”
The documentary was produced by the Minnesota County Attorneys Association, which this week launched a companion Web site at www.revealingmeth.com.
The Web site features clips from the documentary and a trailer, along with information about meth’s effects on the body, its impact on Minnesota, personal stories of recovering addicts, ways to fight the epidemic and more.
The documentary is available on DVD in a full 55-minute form, an abridged 25-minute version and a 10-minute trailer. Go to www.revealingmeth.com/video/trailervideo.htm to view the trailer online, or call (651) 641-1600 to order a copy of the DVD. Each DVD costs $5 for shipping and handling.
