If fall is your season, enjoy it with a trip to Glencoe this weekend for the third annual Corn Maze Festival, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11.
Although an Ohio farmer crafted a likeness of Republican vice president nominee Sarah Palin in his cornfield, the Glencoe Area Chamber of Commerce opted instead to recreate the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panther paw for this year’s corn maze.
By day, the festival is for families. The five-acre maze features more than a mile of trails. There other things to do including a children’s corn pit, bounce house, kiddy train rides, hay stack, wagon rides, plus an appearance by the Hutchinson Clown Club.
For those of you who like to get spooked, dare to enter the Creepy Corn Maze at night, in the dark, alone. This is an option for the brave-of-heart.
This weekend, activities take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. Venture into the corn maze from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.
According to Dan Ehrke, executive director of the Glencoe Area Chamber of Commerce, the festival has grown each year. The Chamber expects about 400 people per session.
“It’s a heckuva a lot of work, but everyone enjoys it so much,” Ehrke said. “This is the second year of the haunted corn maze. We wanted something for older youth. It’s scary and a lot of fun.”
