Folk singer-songwriter Susan Werner is coming to RiverSong music festival, July 13-19. Werner will perform Saturday, July 18, from 4 to 5 p.m. on the River View Stage, and from 7 to 8 p.m. on the Front Porch Stage, both at West River Park in Hutchinson.
Werner stepped in when Terri Hendrix cancelled her RiverSong appearances due to personal reasons.
Werner made her first public appearance at age 5, playing guitar and singing at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa. She launched her professional career in 1993, with the self-released album, “Midwestern Saturday Night.”
Since then, Werner has released several more albums. She has toured the country with acts such as Richard Thompson, Keb Mo and Joan Armatrading.
She also was featured in a 1998 Peter, Paul and Mary PBS special as one of the best of the next generation of folk songwriters.
