Author Joseph Amato, professor of history and rural regional studies at Southwest State University in Marshall, has published a new book, “Jacob’s Well.” He’ll talk about it at 5 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the monthly meeting of the McLeod County Genealogy Society.
Through his own personal story, Amato shares his Arcadian, English, Irish, Prussian and Sicilian ancestry. He follows his family through seven generations. By doing this, he believes that he can better define himself by building a connection with the past and ultimately American history.
There’s no charge to attend and the public is welcome. The genealogy society meets at the McLeod County Museum, 380 School Road N.W., Hutchinson. For more information, call (320) 587-2109.
