For one day only (Saturday, Sept. 13), the Hutchinson Downtown Farmers Market is moving to the City Center parking lot, east side of Hassan Street between First and Second avenues in downtown Hutchinson. The hours remain the same: 8 a.m. to noon.
Cross the street for the 34th annual Arts and Crafts Festival, Taste of Hutchinson and the Friends of the Hutchinson Public Library Used Book Sale all at Library Square in downtown Hutchinson. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The book sale is outdoors at the library’s Hassan Street entrance.
Hutchinson Fire Department 125th Anniversary Kickoff, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hutchinson Fire Station, 205 Third Ave. S.E. Events include rappelling demonstration, car fire at noon, vehicle extraction at 2 p.m., junior water ball/hose spraying, smoke/CO detector booth, CO2 fire extinguisher demo and sprinkler trailer. Food and beverages also available.
While you're at it, take a stroll to the Grand Opening Open House and Ice Cream Social at the Heirlooms Tea Room and Special Occasions (formerly the L.A. Ritter house), noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, at 325 Hassan St. S.E., Hutchinson. Sample scones while touring the main floor and gardens of this historic home. Browse tea books and products, treat yourself to an ice cream cone or root beer float served by the Hutchinson Woman’s Club.
