An Annandale man died following a morning crash on Minnesota Highway 15 near Dassel Wednesday.
The collision happened around 7:30 a.m. one mile north of the County Road 21 intersection when a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix crossed the centerline and struck a semi-trailer, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Brett J. Thompson, 21, the driver of the Grand Prix, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital and later to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died, the State Patrol reported.
The driver of the semi-truck, Sally E. Jaeger, 51, of Richmond, was not injured.
The State Patrol is investigating.
Thompson was a 2005 graduate of Annandale High School where he was a member of the football, basketball and baseball teams and National Honor Society.
This past spring he had completed his third year of college at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall and for the summer was doing an internship for the Department of Natural Resources in Hutchinson.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kimball Express Baseball Team and Northern Migration Softball Team. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.
