Hutchinson police officers were dispatched about 6:40 p.m. Monday to a home in the 600 block of Fifth Avenue Southwest where a woman reported that her cocker spaniel had been attacked by a bulldog.
The woman said the bulldog had chased her dog, and that when she tried to get her dog inside, the bulldog followed and attacked her dog inside the house. A neighbor helped her control the intruder until police arrived.
The bulldog’s owner, who lives about three blocks away, was issued a ticket for allegedly allowing his dog to run at-large. Police will send a report to the city attorney seeking a declaration of the bulldog as a potentially dangerous animal.
