The theft of fuel continues to plague Hutchinson gas stations.
SuperAmerica, 1210 State Highway 7 W., was hit again at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 6, by an enterprising thief. According to police, a man described as a 5-foot-7 stocky Caucasian in his 50s with a white beard, and white balding hair, pumped $120.88 worth of diesel fuel into a large, white work truck and then came into the store.
He apparently was in the store almost 40 minutes, bought $4.25 worth of food, talked with employees about gas thefts and how he allegedly committed such crimes in his “younger days.” When asked if he had pumped fuel, he said “no” and left.
Employees at the Cenex station, 600 Adams St. S.E., reported at 12:43 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, that a Caucasian man in his early 50s, and with a mustache, left without paying for gas worth $31.75 pumped into a red Pontiac Grand Am. He left eastbound toward 3M.
