Hutchinson’s efforts to expand its industrial park as a lure to potential new businesses continues tonight at the Hutchinson Planning Commission meeting.
Economic Development Director Miles Seppelt will bring a request before the commission seeking a favorable recommendation of a 14-lot preliminary plat for the proposed industrial park expansion. The property is south of Hutchinson Co-op’s Fifth Avenue Southeast elevator complex.
Commission members also will consider an ordinance that would establish a new type of zoning district — a mixed-use district that would allow compatible uses, such as commercial, retail, office and entertainment. It also would allow residential uses where there are amenities, such as trails and sidewalks, for pedestrians.
Jim Fahey is requesting a conditional-use permit to put up a new, 2,400-square-foot building north or his real estate building at 904 State Highway 15 S. It would be used as a Headstart preschool.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the council chamber of City Center, 111 Hassan St. S.E.
