Police break up underage drinking party

» Read similar stories filed under:

Hutchinson police received a call about 9:55 Friday night about a loud party in the 200 block of Echo Circle and discovered a party attended by underage drinkers.

The three 17-year-olds included girls from Long Prairie and St. Cloud and a boy from St. Joseph. They were booked and issued tickets for underage consumption and released pending appearances in juvenile court.

The four 18-year-olds issued tickets for underage consumption and released were Ryan K. Luhman of Hutchinson, Jessi A. Beuritz of Willmar, Michael J. Boeckmann of St. Joseph and Alana B. Dowdell of Willmar.

this is wrong. i was involved in this party and this is not quite what happened. maybe you should get your facts right. that'd be great. first of all, there was a 16 year old girl, a 17 year old girl, and a 17 year old boy. the boy from St. Joseph is not 18+. Also, ya might want to recheck the names.

before you write something in the newspaper, you might wanna get the facts straight. really.

I am the one who lives at the apartment in which everyone recieved minors. Personally I think it is dumb that we were called on at 9:55 on a Friday night. It is the weekend, you should be able to be at least somewhat loud till 10:30. Plus, there was three in one room talking quietly, two in the bathroom making out or something, three sitting on the couch, and two at the kitchen table. I was outside. It does not make sense to me, but hey whatever. I'd just appreciate it if the person who would have made the call could have came to us and asked us to be quieter, cause we would have been more than willing to. Also, we had gotten a lot louder after the cops had left. This situation has no sense to it.

The police did the right thing. There must have been some kind of disturbance, or the police would not have been called in the first place. Those of you that were underage were breaking the law. Instead of whining about the police coming before 10:30 pm, and how unfair everything is, do the adult thing...admit that you messed up, accept the punishment, and get on with your life. Geesh! Breaking the law, plus getting caught equals CONSEQUENCES!

There was no disturbance, it was a before 10 pm on a Friday night and the music was quiet and I think that there was just some jerk looking to get us into trouble for their own pleasure. I'm fine with dealing with the consequences, I understand that it was breaking the law. I just think it's stupid when kids who drink safely in their own place who weren't disturbing anybody are getting busted. There are plenty of teens who drink and drive and are loud and rude and I know a lot of them don't get caught. Plus there are other crimes out there too. I think the police shouldn't waste their time busting small parties like this. It's just ridiculous what the cops will do out of boredom. I'm from a small town and I know that's exactly what they do.

This comment makes me so angry, mk08. A parent with this attitude needs their kids removed ASAP from their custody. The law is to protect juveniles from hurting themselves. When parents don't do their job, the law is forced to. There is no such thing as "safe drinking" when you are underage. Already the effect of dead brain cells is showing.

Well....you certainly told us, didn't you? It wouldn't matter if it was before 10pm or you were not making any noise. Obviously you were making some kind of disturbance, otherwise people would not have called the police. And trying to justify yourself on this forum isn't working. There is no justification for breaking the law. And whether you realize it or not, you were harming yourselves. Sounds like your group still needs a lot more adult supervision, but then again, that may be your problem..not ENOUGH adult supervision.

Back to page top

What an injustice that has happened in Hutchinson. Poor innocent minors got in trouble for drinking alcohol. They weren't bothering anyone..sniff sniff...oh it brings a tear to my eye to think that these poor poor people have to suffer under these laws. To think that they would have it so much easier in other countries where minors only have to deal with hunger, war, rape, mutilations, and slave labor. I only hope that NATO will get involved to correct these injustices. It's a shame that minors these days in America have to suffer so much............. But you can help, for just $2.30/day, you can help a suffering underage drinker pay for a safe haven to sustain their alcohol consumption that they have been so deprived of. You'll receive a picture along with a thank you card from the individual you are supporting. The donation is also tax deductable in most states. Please hurry, these kids need your help. How can you sleep for one minute knowing that you could help one of these deprived, suffering, and misunderstood children? Go to www.wahwahwahpooruswebrokthelawandeveryoneispickingonus.org to donate. God bless!

Lowering the drinking age is NOT going to happen any time soon. The Drinking age in each state is tied to federal money for roads, and if the States allow the drinking age to be dropped, they lose all that funding from the feds...not gonna happen.

And you know what, Jessianne (and friends)???? As you and your friends have bemoaned on this forum, Hutchinson is a fairly small town. You are not just a number with the Police Dept and they know your names, the charges against you,and where you live. More than likely someone in law enforcement is seeing these posts from you and your friends, along with the implication that you intend to keep up your underage drinking. Smart move...but you all have been trying for awhile to convince the people who read this forum that you all know more than anyone else. Thanks for making law enforcement's job a bit easier. Nobody was claiming that you are the only underage drinkers in this world. I know many people who have been tagged for underage drinking, but they have long since moved on with their lives. They also took responsibility and didn't blame anyone except themselves. It has nothing to do with expanding horizons or mind cluttering views. The law is the law. They moved the drinking age up to 21 for a reason and reading your posts solidifies the need to keep it at 21. I'm sure there are plenty of underage drinkers out there that keep a low profile and don't get in trouble, but I have concluded after reading your obnoxious and immature posts that you are not in this group and that's why you got busted.

I think some of you guys need to get a life if all you have to do is criticize when people make a mistake. I won't name any names, but I'm pretty sure you know who you are.

Also, I would appreciate if the 30 year olds don't call teenagers dumb. We have accepted the consequences, fully. I understand that the cops are doing their job. Jesus. I don't know how many times that point needs to be made. And don't say we keep on fighting this battle, because you sure have put your 2 cents in plenty of times.

And the cops can come over to my apartment anytime gladly, maybe we'll sit down and have a cup of coffee. I would love it.

I will admit that I'm immature at times, but how many mature 18 year olds are there really? When the cops were here, we accepted the fact right away. No one even fought them at all. We were talking to the cops and were being respectful and we fully understood they were just doing their jobs.

Were any of you guys here? OH yeah that's right, you weren't.

i was an adult about it.

he asked if i had been drinking, i said yes. he asked to come in or something, i let him. he asked if there was any more booze, i let him willingly look in my freezer and fridge.

if you call those three cops and ask them how we acted they would say very adult like. I remember the names of two of them if you would like me to supply the names so you can do this.

I don't think there was a question on how you responded to police upon their arrival, it's about your whining and blaming others because you got caught. I find it funny that you post on here about the cops having nothing better to do and that they were just bored. I just wish you would have said those comments to their faces when they were at your place. Pay your fine and become productive members of the community. I agree that there are plenty of better things the cops should be doing besides busting underage drinkers, but they must do their duty and answer complaints. Stop breaking the law so they can concentrate on other things. Good job Hutch police as well as the person that called in the complaint!
