A 14-year-old Hutchinson girl was reportedly struck by a late model red Chevy pickup June 22, while crossing California Street on her bike.
The incident took place about 6:15 p.m. as the girl rode eastbound at Texas Avenue. She was taken to the Hutchinson Community Hospital’s emergency room with minor injuries.
As a result of being struck, the girl was tossed up onto the truck’s hood and then to the ground. The man driving the truck allegedly stopped, asked if she was “OK,” and then drove from the scene as the girl’s mother arrived in a car. The truck was northbound on California.
The girl reported her bike did not have brakes.
Anyone with information about this incident should call the Hutchinson Police Department at (320) 587-2242.
