A van stolen from a boys group home in Hutchinson on Wednesday morning, March 12, was recovered later in Glencoe. Authorities there apprehended the three runaways from the group home who allegedly took the van.
According to Hutchinson police, a 12-year-old from Ramsey County, a 16-year-old from Hennepin County and a 15-year-old from Blue Earth County, allegedly ran away from the group home in the 100 block of Franklin Street North about 9:45 p.m. They apparently were able to take the keys to the white 2000 Ford van from an office.
The two older boys were held at the McLeod County Jail in Glencoe. Police will be seeking a charge of motor vehicle theft against all three, Lt. Dave Erlandson said Thursday.
