Highway 7 study report ready
December 19, 2007 - 1:01pm — Terry Davis
A lot of ideas have been put forth for possible future development at Hutchinson’s Main Street and Bluff Street intersections with State Highway 7. Consultants for the city and the Planning Commission made clear Tuesday night those are only long-range conceptual plans not intended to set in motion the eviction of businesses already occupying those areas. Larry Sorensen owns Sorensen’s Farm Supply and Rental at the southeast corner of the Adams/Bluff Street and Fourth Avenue Northeast intersection. His property, as well as several businesses to the west, was included in consultant Landform’s vision for turning the area into a true gateway to downtown. That concerns him. “It was not about those businesses moving out. That may never happen. It all depends on property owners,” Landform’s Carolyn Krall said. The complete report can be found at: www.ci.hutchinson.mn.us/hwy7study.htm. Landform will do another presentation on the study’s final report at the City Council meeting, 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at City Center, 111 Hassan St. S.E. For more, read the Dec. 20 print edition of the Leader. (Terry Davis is a staff writer for the Hutchinson Leader. He can be reached at davis@hutchinsonleader.com.)
