Registration opens for veteran and military women’s summit

Registration is now open for the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs’ first Minnesota Veteran and Military Women’s Summit Oct. 16-17 at the Ramada Inn Mall of America.

Women in the military and spouses are a strong group of accomplished individuals. However, for some it’s not always easy to reach out for support or a helping hand. This forum will help MDVA and various partners pave the way for shared resources to strengthen our community. The event will bring together women veterans, women currently serving in the military, female spouses, care providers and members of the community in a comfortable setting to provide resources, support and networking opportunities.

Some of the event highlights and featured speakers include:
* Icebreaker social from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday
* International keynote speaker, author, and seminar leader Kathy Brown open the day with laughter and enthusiasm
* Joan Rusco, home loan expert, will provide step-by-step guidance on the VA home loan program for home purchases and refinance options
* Representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs will be on hand to answer questions
* Vendors from the public and private sector
