Six summer movies have already crossed the $100 million box office mark: “Spider-Man 3,” “Shrek the Third,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “Knocked Up” and “The Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer.”
"Pirates 3” has also beaten out early leader “Spider-Man 3” as the most popular global release of the summer. To date, Pirates has earned more than $904 million compared to “Spider-Man 3” at $882 million.
Interestingly enough, Pixar’s new film, “Ratatouille” beat out “Live Free or Die Hard” earning the No. 1 spot this past weekend.
Opening tonight (Monday, July 2) at 8 p.m. is “Transformers.” It’s the story of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations. The unfortunate part of this war is that the Earth is caught in the middle of it. Starring Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Bernie Mac, John Turturro and Tyrese Gibson.
