I went to see the new release "Semi-Pro" because I wanted to laugh. Unfortunately, there weren't many. I think Will Ferrell has nursed every possible laugh out of the 1970s. He needs to give it up and find a new era to mine for humor.
For once I have to agree with the daily newspaper reviewers. It was a bad movie that appeared to be a series of improvised skits strung together.
I was disappointed. The only thing worse than "Semi-Pro" was the preview of Ferrell's upcoming movie "Step Brothers." The preview looked bad, I can't imagine how much worse the movie will be.
Just so you know, I like Will Ferrell and saw "Anchorman," "Elf," "Blades of Glory" and "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby." But "Semi-Pro" didn't live up to Ferrell's previous work.
If you want to see it, I'd recommend waiting until its available on DVD.
