Nominations for Minnesota Teacher of the Year remain open through the end of day Monday, Nov. 16.
Nomination forms are available at online at www.educationminnesota.org. The 2010 Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be named on May 2, 2010. The Teacher of the Year also becomes Minnesota’s candidate for National Teacher of the Year.
Anyone may nominate a teacher. Self-nominations are also accepted. The state program has been highly successful nationally. Minnesota ranks second behind California with four National Teachers of the Year.
Who is eligible for this distinction? Teachers who:
• teach in a pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade classroom,
• hold at least a baccalaureate degree and a teaching license issued by the state of Minnesota,
• have completed at least three full years of teaching by the nomination deadline, and
• intend to teach the 2010-11 school year.
