The Hutchinson District 423 School Board voted unanimously Monday (Nov. 2) to expel a Hutchinson High School student.
School administrators recommended expulsion of the student, whose name was not released to the public, for two trimesters. Superintendent Daron VanderHeiden said this is roughly equal to the remainder of the school year.
Grounds for expulsion stemmed from an Oct. 21 incident in which the student was found in possession of a knife while on school property. VanderHeiden said, “There were no students being threatened with it or anything like that.”
