Suspect in 1994 Glencoe murder case faces extradition
April 14, 2008 - 11:11am — Jorge Sosa
Nearly 14 years after a brutal Glencoe murder, the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office is preparing to extradite a fugitive suspect from San Antonio, Texas. Martin Rivera Ramirez, 33, was one of five men charged in August 1994 with second-degree murder and three counts of felony assault, stemming from an attack which left 26-year-old Hugo Perez dead. For medical reasons, McLeod County deputies were not able to extradite Ramirez earlier this month. But, the so-called “Gang’s All Here” case has long required patience. Ramirez has been a fugitive since he allegedly fled the scene of the attack, which took place at about 1:15 a.m. Aug. 21, 1994, in front of what is now the Glencoe Pizza Ranch. At the time, the establishment was known as The Gang’s All Here Bar & Grill. Detective Joe Oliver of the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office said Ramirez was recently detained by the U.S. Border Patrol as he was crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. He was identified by his physical description and tattoos. Oliver said Ramirez and four other suspects — Aljandro Cazares Tinoco, Juan Jasso, Rodrigo Ernesto Rivera and Jesus Ramos Ramirez — all were initially charged with second-degree murder and three counts apiece of felony assault resulting in bodily harm.
