Huskies baseball: Hutch pulls out 4-1 win at D-C

Corey Ryks improved to 7-1 on the season with his fifth straight complete game as Hutchinson topped rival Dassel-Cokato on the road 4-1 Friday.

Tim Thode drove in the eventual game-winning run in the seventh inning with an RBI-double off Saints starter Jordan Danielson to break a 1-1 tie.

A throwing error and fielding error on the overthrow led to two runs in the ninth inning for Hutchinson, who improved to 15-7 on the season.

Ryks struck out eight batters while holding D-C to just three hits.

Thode was 3-for-5 with two runs batted in, while Brian Meuleners scored three runs. Eric Hanson was 2-for-4 for the Saints.

Hutchinson is now 1/2 game ahead of D-C and Maple Lake for second place in Region 8B seeding games. Sunday's opponent, Plato, is 2-0 so far in 2009.
