Winthrop head women's golf coach Jodi Wendt, a Hutchinson native and daughter of former golf coach, Carol, is one of four former Minnesota State student-athletes that have been selected for induction into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Sept. 26.
Wendt, a former LPGA teaching professional and player on the Player West Professional Tour, has completed two years as the Winthrop women’s head coach after a two-year stint as the assistant golf coach.
She was a four-year member of Minnesota State’s golf team, graduating in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in social science education and a minor in political science.
A formal induction ceremony will take place at the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, which will be in the CSU Ballroom on the evening before the MSU football team hosts Winona State on Sept. 27 in the annual Homecoming Game. Wendt and her fellow inductees will be introduced at halftime.
Wendt was honored as an academic All-American all four years of her college career. As a collegiate player, she earned All-American honors twice and was the 1996 Arizona State Amateur Champion. She earned a coaching certificate upon graduation.
Those interested in attending the dinner can reserve tickets by calling the MSU Department of Athletics at (507) 389-6111.
