The first annual Levi Schwanz Memorial Car Show will take place Saturday, March 31 at the Hutchinson National Armory from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Schwanz, the son of area car driver Derik Schwanz, passed away last October from a congenital heart disease, and the car show is a way to remember him while raising some money to be donated in his name.
The show is expected to have around 30 race cars, drag cars, classic cars, go karts, quads, snowmobiles and motorcycles on display. Fans will vote for their favorite and the top three cars and go karts with the winners receiving trophies and cash awards.
The show will also be having food for sale as well as a silent auction, with all proceeds being donated to Children’s Hospital and the American Heart Association in Schwanz’s name.
Among the silent auction will be: an autographed Jeff Gordon helmet shield; framed autographed photos of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Mark Martin, Kyle Busch and Evernham Racing; an autographed 1/24 Jimmie Johnson Lowe's diecast; an autographed Jimmie Johnson Gatorade cooler; autographed Tucker Hibbert goggles; autographed Kirk Hibbert goggles and Arctic Cat jacket.
