Oakdale Golf Club became the first area course to open to the public at 11 a.m. Tuesday. General Manager Justin Barrick and grounds superintendent Mike Knodel gave the go ahead Monday.
"The green light has been given for golf after 11 am Tuesday! We’ll ask that you play off the rough in front of the tee box and that you walk, but we’ll be open for golf. So it is official….the season has begun," he said.
Shadowbrooke Golf Course in Lester Prairie (off Highway 7 and County Road 1) will open Wednesday, while Glencoe Golf Club has an opening date of Friday, April 11 (barring setbacks).
Head golf professional Nate Baldry of Crow River Golf Club said it might open to walking Wednesday, but with cold and wet weather predicted for this weekend, the chances are slim for anything else this week or early next week.
No word on Meadow Links in Hutchinson.
Look for updates as they warrant this spring for golf openings.
