Trailing 2-0 to Dassel, the Hutchinson 16s VFW team plated a run in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning to prevail 5-3 in a sub-district playoff Thursday in Glencoe.
Jaedon Scott picked up the win on the mound, allowing one earned run over seven innings.
Post 906 will play Springfield at 9 a.m. Saturday at Vollmer Field in Glencoe. The winner advances to the championship game, and a spot in next weekend's district playoffs in Green Isle.
Wes Corrigan will start on the mound. He was victorious against Springfield earlier this summer, 8-5.
Following a Joe Wheatley line out, Scott got the rally going in the fifth inning with a double down the left field line. Mike Lauer continued the inning with a single to center and moved to second on the throw. After an intentional walk to Nick Betker, Jackson Hallahan plated the tying run with a bunt single.
Tony Trettin broke open the game with two-run single and Brad Muckenhirn also drove in a run with a hit.

Back to page topThe Hutchinson 16s defeated Springfield today, 11-5, to advance to the sub-district championship tomorrow at 8 a.m. in Glencoe.
Post 906 will play either Springfield or Sleepy Eye. A second game if needed is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
Having looked at the district schedule for next week (Hutch already has clinched a spot), the sub-district champion plays in the early afternoon Thursday - the runner-up plays at 8 a.m.
Note: 8 a.m. is early. Hopefully we win.
The VFW 15s lost to Chaska, 3-1 today, eliminating them from their sub-district playoffs.
