JANUARY
Ann Nolan, Minneapolis, on Jan. 6, at age 87. Ann and husband Earl were blessed with five children.

Sally Jill Smith, Hutchinson, on Jan. 6, at age 64. She was a talented artist and excelled at painting, quilting, gardening and baking.

Elvern Walz, Hutchinson, on Jan. 6, at age 83. She was a loving homemaker and mother and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends.

Edmund Dummer, Virginia, on Jan. 7, at age 91. Ed was a life member of Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 1113 and the Virginia Rifle and Pistol Club.

Loretta Reiner, Hutchinson, on Jan. 8, at age 85. She enjoyed reading. playing cards at the Senior Center, dancing, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.

Arvilla Schneider, Madison, Wis., on Jan. 9, at age 93. She loved the outdoors, especially bird watching, was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and was a wonderful friend.

Amy Kraemer, Hutchinson, on Jan. 10, at age 84. She loved to go to potluck dinners, and enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and making delicious soups for her friends and family.

Earl Blackwell, Cosmos, on Jan. 16, at age 87. Earl loved animals, baseball and gardening.

Bradley Horstmann, Hutchinson, on Jan. 17, at age 53. Brad enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with stained glass and played guitar in the Tucker Hill Band.

Gladys Tews, Silver Lake, on Jan. 17, at age 89. She loved to garden, and made bouquets from her garden for everyone to enjoy.

Doris Calhoun, Hutchinson, on Jan. 18, at age 47. She enjoyed biking, tennis, being outdoors, art and spending time with her husband and children.

Roger Miller, South Haven, on Jan. 18, at age 69. He dearly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends, and going on fishing trips throughout the country.

Orville Rickert, Buffalo Lake, on Jan. 18, at age 89. He liked fishing and working on carpentry projects, and collected arrowheads.

Elsie Webb, Hutchinson, on Jan. 19, at age 89. She loved to read and was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Daniel Pikal, Stewart, on Jan. 20, at age 83. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed his trips to Hawaii.

Eileen Gratz, Willmar, on Jan. 22, at age 76. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed bowling in a league.

Merritt Davis Sr., Cleveland, on Jan. 24, at age 92. Merritt enjoyed traveling with his wife, feeding birds and squirrels in his back yard, and visiting with his family and friends.

Duane Larson, Silver Lake, on Jan. 24, at age 73. He was a heavy equipment operator and worked on pipelines in Iran, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Ecuador and Columbia.

Mabel Antonsen, Buffalo Lake, on Jan. 25, at age 91. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, sewing, painting, fishing and her garden.

Joann Johnson, Montrose, Colo. and formerly of Hutchinson, on Jan. 25, at age 66. She was an avid golfer, curious reader and helpful and dedicated hospital volunteer who is remembered for her big smile, happy laugh and optimistic outlook.

Virgil Kreie, Hutchinson, on Jan. 26, at age 93. He was a quiet man with a deep Christian faith and loved to be surrounded by his family and friends.

Thomas Hanna, Hutchinson, on Jan. 27, at age 50. He enjoyed golfing, boating and loved spending time with his sons.

Bruce Reuber, Hector, on Jan. 30, at age 67. He enjoyed working and spending time outdoors, loved the water and performing stunts on personal watercraft.

FEBRUARY
Loren Chrast, Silver Lake, on Feb. 1, at age 54. He was an outdoorsman, fisherman and hunter and loved spending time with his family and his dog, Sage.

Gerald Carter, Litchfield, on Feb. 7, at age 89. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and traveling with his wife to Alaska.

Robert Deal, Hutchinson, on Feb. 7, at age 72. His favorite pastimes were tending his flower gardens, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Mabel Erickson, Hutchinson, on Feb. 7, at age 87. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, traveling, flowers and spending time with family and friends.

Brenda Phillips, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., on Feb. 7, at age 52. Her strength of spirit, eternal optimism and smile touched everyone who met her.

Dixie Schlueter, Joplin, Mo., on Feb. 7, at age 72.

Sister M. Judith Svoboda, Mankato, on Feb. 7, at age 94. She taught elementary and high school classes in Minnesota, North Dakota and Washington State.

Sandra Anderson, Hutchinson, on Feb. 8, at age 70. She enjoyed traveling, nature and Christian fellowship, and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her husband and children.

Charles Ernst, Silver Lake, on Feb. 8, at age 40. He had many interests, including hunting, fishing, water skiing, boating, flying and working on his hobby farm.

Kenneth LaPlante, Flandreau, S.D., on Feb. 10, at age 73. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, golfing and playing horseshoes.

Margaret Fegley, Brownton, on Feb. 12, at age 67. She was an avid homemaker, cooking new recipes and preparing large holiday gatherings.

Doris Bashans, Brownton, on Feb. 13, at age 75. She liked fishing and boating, going to garage sales, doing word search puzzles and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Frieda Reinitz, Hutchinson and formerly of Glencoe, on Feb. 13, at age 72. She was well known for her cooking and baking.

Alvin Gehrke, Winthrop, on Feb. 14, at age 89. He loved fixing and making things, dancing, tractors, growing a big garden and spending time with family and friends.

Margery Nadrchal, Hutchinson, on Feb. 14, at age 77. She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans, silk flowers and bead crafts, and especially enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Sherlyn McCarthy, Cosmos, on Feb. 15, at age 40. She enjoyed riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle, playing pool and cards and reading.

Elva Wendorff, Hutchinson, on Feb. 17, at age 82. She loved traveling, bird watching, golfing, gardening, and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Lyle Richards, Buffalo Lake, on Feb. 19, at age 81. He enjoyed participating in and attending sporting events of his children and grandchildren.

Daniel Becker, Hutchinson, on Feb. 20, at age 77. He enjoyed spending time fishing on Long Lake, cooking, listening to country music and watching NASCAR races.

Nadine Smerud, Tomball, Texas, on Feb. 21, at age 59. She had many talents, including teaching, playing the piano and organ, singing and embroidery.

Norma Gassman, Hutchinson, on Feb. 23, at age 78. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, painting, relaxing by the lake, and spending time with family and friends.

Corey Hansen, Hutchinson, on Feb. 23, at age 33. He enjoyed four-wheeling, racing, jet skiing, snowmobiling, golfing, fishing, camping, biking and spending time with his wife and son.

Beverly Powers, Hutchinson, on Feb. 25, at age 79. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Richard Kadelbach, Acoma Township, on Feb. 26, at age 64. He loved to collect red tractors and fix them, attend tractor shows and auctions and spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Christine Mobley, Hutchinson, on Feb. 26, at age 53. She loved to read, collect cat collectibles, and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Robert Sovereign, Prior Lake, on Feb. 27, at age 84. He was a graduate of University of Minnesota with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Lydia Marvan, Hutchinson, on Feb. 28, at age 88.

Darlene McKim, Chanhassen and formerly of Hutchinson, on Feb. 28, at age 78. She enjoyed reading, going out to eat, going to movies and the zoo, going to Valley Fair and outdoor athletic activities.

Vivian Malloy, Hutchinson, on Feb. 29, at age 93. She enjoyed traveling, Christmas and played Mrs. Claus for years for those in need, and then for grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Delores Schmidt, Darwin, on Feb. 29, at age 93. She enjoyed reading, gardening, listening to old-time music and socializing with friends.

MARCH
Carl Mortenson, Hutchinson, on March 1, at age 27. He loved the military and was proud to be a member of the National Guard. He especially cherished the time he spent with this two children.

John Schmidt, Glencoe, on March 1, at age 91. He enjoyed his retirement years, filling them with things he loved such as family time, fishing, hunting, camping, dancing, reading, woodworking and socializing with his many friends.

Gerald Urban, Hutchinson, on March 5, at age 72. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards and attending his lodge meetings and activities.

Lois Elliot, Tracy, on March 6, at age 86. She loved crocheting, sewing, gardening, quilting, spending time with her great-grandchildren and grandchildren, and having the coffee pot on when friends and family stopped by.

Daniel Steinhaus, Hutchinson and formerly of Morgan, on March 7, at age 58.

Helen Zanoth, Hutchinson, on March 7, at age 81. She was an excellent seamstress, loved to tend her garden and bake. She was known as the “Cookie Lady.”

Francis Haley, Cosmos, on March 8, at age 68. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting, fishing and coon hunting, and spending time with his family.

Clarence Muske, Springfield and formerly of Hutchinson, on March 9, at age 93. He loved people and maintained a wide circle of friends through letters, phone calls and the Internet.

Glenn Fitzloff, Litchfield, on March 10, at age 81. He enjoyed fishing with his wife, Helen, gardening and golfing.

Mae Nelson, Hutchinson, on March 12, at age 85. Her greatest love was having time with family. Her wonderful smile and loving hugs are missed by all who knew her.

Geraldine Joercks, Minneapolis, on March 14, at age 79. She enjoyed embroidery, collected dolls of all kinds and loved dogs.

Carolyn Plamann, Hutchinson, on March 15, at age 81. She enjoyed sewing and baking, loved to go dancing with her husband, and especially enjoyed spending time with her husband children, and grandchildren.

Samuel Prieve, Humansville, Mo., on March 16, at age 64. He owned several businesses, was a truck driver and was active as a Mason and Shriner.

Murial Forcier, Stewart, on March 19, at age 82. He enjoyed gardening, canning his own produce, mowing his lawn, hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.

Barry Huggett, Litchfield, on March 19, at age 64. He had a way about him that put others at ease. He could often be found with a smile on his face or a laugh in his heart.

Otto Ahlbrecht, Hector, on March 23, at age 92. His life was full of family and fun. He was a kind and loving husband and father who touched the lives of many people.

Gary Wettstein, Hutchinson, on March 27, at age 70. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting with his friends at Park Towers and spending time with his children, grandchildren and cat, Star.

Kelly Showalter, Darwin, on March 28, at age 45. She was known to be compassionate and caring, with an ability to care for handicapped children and the elderly. She was a devoted mother and proud grandmother.

Milbourne Leske, Hutchinson, on March 29, at age 75. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Roy Ross, Park Rapids and formerly of Lester Prairie, on March 29, at age 53. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, watching wildlife and spending time with his friends.

Larry Smith, Brownton, on March 29, at age 64. He enjoyed road trips on his motorcycles, snowmobiling, fishing, playing pool and spending time with family, friends and neighbors at the lake.

Kyle Hochsprung, Brownton, on March 30, at age 53. He liked to work with his hands, woodworking, welding and fabricating. He loved helping his family, friends and neighbors.

Judith Lene, La Plata, Mo., on March 30, at age 61. She was known for her zest for life, love of music and dedication to her church and family.

Helen Marsh, Bellevue, Wash., on March 31, at age 84. She was a creative person, leading quilting and needlepoint projects, was an avid gardener and enjoyed skiing, golfing and hiking.

APRIL
Gordon Hoernemann, Glencoe, on April 2, at age 76. He loved playing baseball in his younger years and was a Twins fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Janet Zuehlke, Lafayette, on April 3, at age 62. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed planting flowers, family vacations and spending time with her grandchildren.

George Nass, Princeton and formerly of Big Lake and Darwin, on April 4, at age 77.

Lydia Ahlbrecht, Hutchinson, on April 7, at age 95. She was an excellent seamstress and loved all of the assorted fabrics she used in her sewing projects.

Eldon Rath, of Hutchinson, on April 7, at age 72. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spearing, taking motorcycle trips and snowmobiling. He loved to participate in tractor pulls with his children.

Arvid Reinke, Litchfield, on April 7, at age 82. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending summer weekends at his home on Lake Koronis and spending winters in Florida.

Larry Root, Maple Grove, on April 9, at age 65. He was an over-the-road truck driver, who enjoyed spending time with his long-time companion, Patty, and their dog, Daisy.

Lucille Field, Hassan Valley Township, on April 10, at age 85. She liked to take walks and spend time outdoors, taking care of calves and cats, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Patricia Commerford, Willmar, on April 11, at age 59. She enjoyed participating at Special Olympics, bowling, attending dances, working on circle word books, listening to Willmar sports and Twins games and checking her weather calendar.

Donald Czeck, Hutchinson, on April 13, at age 41. He worked as a supervisor with Mediacom Inc.

Katrin Czeck, Silver Lake, on April 13, at age 35. She loved the outdoors, taking many camping and hiking trips, loved horses and cats and spending time with her family.

Arnie Olson, Stewart, on April 13, at age 60. He enjoyed motorcycling, caring for animals and restoring collector cars.

Leonard Schaefer, on April 14, at age 98. Along with his love of farming, he enjoyed woodworking, making and sharing crosses, bird houses and crafted wood items. He loved spending time surrounded by his family.

Michael Super, Hutchinson, on April 15, at age 45. He enjoyed skydiving, hunting, fishing and doing carpentry work.

Myrtle Dressel, Hutchinson, on April 16, at age 91. She loved baking and was known for always having sweets around for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barbara Daniels, Hutchinson, on April 17, at age 56. She enjoyed reading, shopping, gardening, motorcycling, sitting by the lake. She loved animals and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Leonard Farenbaugh, Darwin, on April 17, at age 66. He enjoyed riding horse, fishing and carpentry.

Kathleen Graf, Lake Manuella, on April 19, at age 67. She enjoyed picnics in the woods and at the lake with family and friends, and especially loved the time she spend with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Laurene Herbert, Hutchinson, on April 21, at age 85. She was a loving homemaker and loved babysitting her grandchildren.

Carol Fransen, Hutchinson, on April 23, at age 66. Her passion was going on cruises, and had gone on at least 40 of them, mostly to the Caribbean.

Linda Smith, Dassel, on April 25, at age 50. She found enjoyment in fishing, reading, painting, gardening, cooking, horseback riding, puzzles and interior decorating.

Ervin Seller, Hutchinson, on April 26, at age 87. He enjoyed his occupation as a farmer and had many talents, woodworking, gardening and dancing.

Hans Lipke, Hibbing, on April 28, at age 28. He was a man who lived a life that was full and rich with depth and passion, and quietly shared his love and gratitude for family and friends.

Sharon Niles, Buffalo Lake, on April 29, at age 67. Sharon enjoyed gardening and had a special interest in roses, crocheting, reading and listening to music.

MAY
Orin Schiro, Lester Prairie, on May 3, at age 78. He enjoyed carpentry, mowing lawn, fishing, gardening and could fix just about anything. He especially loved his nieces and nephews.

Donald Grams, LaCrosse, Wis., on May 4, at age 84. He was a people person and enjoyed telling jokes. He was a good father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was loved by all.

Elizabeth Wendolek, Hutchinson, on May 4, at age 80. She enjoyed traveling, gambling and bingo and was a faithful member of her church.

Orland Larson, Wayzata, on May 8, at age 84. He was a past master and longtime member of Wayzata Masonic Lodge and Zurah Shrine Club.

Herbert Zaske, Brownton, on May 8, at age 90. He played trombone, sang in the church choir, sang barbershop music and sang at many ethnic gatherings throughout the state and Canada.

Ervin Bedner, Hutchinson, on May 9, at age 86. He loved to go on car rides and outings and looked forward to attending family reunions.

Renee Bacon, Hutchinson, on May 14, at age 58. She was a musician at her church, loved to travel, and was in her glory when she was visiting, camping and just being in nature.

Gaylene Kirkpatrick, Rochester, on May 15, at age 32. She collected, showed and judged model horses, and played and enjoyed music, especially the clarinet and piano.

Katherine Heil, Clovis, Calif., and formerly of Hutchinson, on May 17, at age 86. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and oil painting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Marcella Athman, Buffalo and formerly of Stewart, on May 18, at age 84. Her love of music led her to serve as church organist and choir director, and taught piano for more than 30 years.

Evelyn Ewert, Stewart, on May 21, at age 90. Her greatest love was her family; her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Yvonne Fitzgerald, Hutchinson, on May 21, at age 85. She was the first Hutchinson Water Carnival queen in 1940.

Beth Ellenby, Tempe, Ariz., on May 24, at age 44. She was a skilled pianist and organist and spoke four languages, and blessed those around her with gracious and loving hospitality.

Joseph Maiers, Brentwood, Calif., on May 25, at age 89. He enjoyed many things including card games, wood furniture making, boating and fishing, cooking and bowling, and was good at fixing broken things.

Elaine Korson, Brownton, on May 27, at age 85. Music was an important part of her life; she enjoyed playing piano, listening to old-time polka music and watching Bandwagon on television.

Bernice Todnem, Hutchinson, on May 30, at age 86. She was a loving homemaker and mother and enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, doing needlework, gardening and taking care of her yard.

JUNE
Ruth Higginbotham, Hutchinson, on June 2, at age 87. Reading was a passion of hers and she also enjoyed spending time with family and birdwatching.

Lenn Dietel, Maple Grove, on June 3, at age 79. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Roger Oleson, Hutchinson, on June 7, at age 83. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling, and was a collector of Indian artifacts.

Alvin Christensen, Litchfield, on June 14, at age 98. He loved farming and gardening, and was a man of faith who loved the Lord.

Richard Ulrich, Hutchinson, on June 15, at age 70. He was encouraging, optimistic, with a fun sense of humor, and treasured his family.

Judy Bain, Hutchinson, on June 16, at age 66. She loved to help others, and volunteered at local hospitals.

Alice Flickinger, Hutchinson, on June 16, at age 59. She enjoyed many crafts and tending to her flower gardens, and especially enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Ernest Radunz, Litchfield, on June 16, at age 95. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

David Wilson, Askov, on June 16, at age 67. He was an avid supporter of youth sports, was an outdoorsman, and a volunteer.

Doris Kring, Seattle, Wash., on June 18, at age 87. She was devoted to her family and had many friends who she kept on touch with by phone and letters.

Arlys Berghuis, Hutchinson, on June 19, at age 63. She was a happy person with a positive attitude and loving spirit, who loved being with other people.

Agnes Podratz, Gaylord, on June 20, at age 88. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed sharing her treats with family and friends.

Myron Thomson, Hutchinson, on June 21, at age 86. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and trap shooting and taught gun safety training. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter and grandchildren.

Callaa Dolezal, Cosmos, on June 22, at age 43. She loved her family, her dogs and her farm.

Paul Maiers, Stewart, on June 22, at age 87. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, hunting in his younger years, John Deere tractors and visiting with people.

Geraldine Fraker, Forest Lake and formerly of Hutchinson, on June 23, at age 75.

Robert Wennen, of Hillsboro, N.C., on June 29, at age 66. An avid gardener and landscape artist, he loved creating art and working with a pottery wheel.

Lyle Boller, Hutchinson, on June 30, at age 73. He enjoyed fishing, painting, working on ceramic projects, going to the sales barn and spending time with his daughter.

Lenard Christensen, Hutchinson, on June 30, at age 91. He enjoyed fishing, repairing clocks, cars and cameras, and traveling with his wife.

JULY
Jerry Hansen, Minneapolis and formerly of Hutchinson, on July 1, at age 85. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Phronsie Swanson, Hutchinson, on July 3, at age 87. She enjoyed needlework and crocheting, did plastic canvas work and made many ornaments over the years.

Priscilla Manther, Hutchinson, on July 6, at age 81. She was an active member of her church and of many civic organizations.

Elaine Lundeen, Hutchinson, on July 7, at age 90. She loved to bake angel food cakes and always enjoyed hosting large family gatherings on Sundays at the farm.

Charles Dale, Hutchinson, on July 12, at age 62. He loved to take care of his horse Juuls, ride his motorcycle and spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Kay Karg, Hutchinson, on July 15, at age 69. She enjoyed music, loved to play the piano and sing, and especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Otto Steinbach, Stewart, on July 16, at age 94. His lifetime passion was farming, and he enjoyed many afternoons and evenings at the sales barn in Hutchinson.

Charlette Taylor, Hutchinson, on July 17, at age 93. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, playing the organ and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edwin Ballard, Hutchinson, on July 18, at age 85. He was an avid gardener and deer hunter.

Levi Fallon, Cosmos, on July 18, at age 97. He will be remembered as a truly gentle man, with his ready smile, kind words and accepting love of life.

Judith Joslin, Burnsville, on July 18, at age 68. She loved her family above all else, and had great joy cooking and entertaining over the holidays.

David Ruzicka, Lake Minnie Belle, on July 18, at age 79. His favorite activity was fishing, both fresh and salt water.

Chris Judd, St. Paul, on July 19, at age 58. He will be remembered for his sense of adventure, love of life, strength and charisma.

Bryan Bluhm, Plymouth, on July 22, at age 51. He enjoyed music of various types and liked to travel to his favorite place, New Zealand.

William Paulson, Hutchinson, on July 22, at age 71. He loved hunting, giolf, playing cards, entertaining and cooking for family and friends.

Claribel Root, Hutchinson, on July 22, at age 94. She was a caring person who was always looking to do things for others, and followed her father’s trait of being a storyteller.

Gloria “Buffy” Stuber, Buffalo Lake, on July 23, at age 48. She especially enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and her dogs, Cleo and Deeni.

Gloria Peris, Bird Island, on July 24, at age 67. She cherished times spent with her grandchildren. Her family fondly remembers how “if she could help someone, she would.”

Steven Messner, Brownton, on July 25, at age 56. He enjoyed camping, biking, hiking, music festivals, remodeling projects, and his love of family and friends, especially the children, was a huge part of his life.

Gary Dahlberg, Acoma Township, on July 26, at age 57. He loved the great outdoors where he actively enjoyed fishing, hunting and proudly caring for his yard.

Carl Bretzke, Hutchinson, on July 28, at age 80. He loved spending summers at the lake with family and friends, and enjoyed biking, skiing, playing tennis, woodworking and making Nantucket baskets.

Clarence Berg, Hutchinson, on July 29, at age 73. He enjoyed assembling challenging jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire and eating large quantities of his wife’s homemade fudge.

LeRoy Hoof, Richfield, on July 30, at age 80. He was a Korean War veteran and lifelong member of VFW, American Legion and Lifetouch Alumni.

Harlan Schulte, Hutchinson, on July 30, at age 49. He like to work on vehicles and was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends with car problems.

AUGUST
Lucile Sander, Hopkins, on Aug. 2, at age 73. She enjoyed reading and was an avid watcher of the wildlife outside her home.

Alvin Anderson, Lake Jennie, on Aug. 5, at age 96. He loved playing games, telling jokes, fishing, gardening and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bernice Swanson, Glencoe, on Aug. 6, at age 90. She was an accomplished singer, having sung many solos and duets over her lifetime.

Frances Armstrong, Hutchinson, on Aug. 10, at age 98. She loved to read and enjoyed Bible study, volunteer work and the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

Gaylyn Wigen, Hutchinson, on Aug. 10, at age 60. He will be remembered for his kind loving manner, always smiling, with a wonderful sense of humor and putting his family first.

Violet Dahlman, Litchfield and formerly of Dassel, on Aug. 17, at age 82. She was talented with crafts, was always learning new things and sharing her talents with others.

Melvin Doering, Hutchinson, on Aug. 17, at age 88. He built model planes, loved to sing old hymns, and spent many hours fishing and catching the elusive walleye.

Clarence Kline, Litchfield, on Aug. 18, at age 80. He had a trucking business and enjoyed working for his friend and neighbors.

Luverna Thiesfeld, Glencoe, on Aug. 20, at age 89. She loved being with her children and grandchildren and was always interested in everyone’s activities.

Dorothy Sahr, Farmington and formerly of Hutchinson, on Aug. 21, at age 99. Her greatest joy was spending time with her two granddaughters who visited her often.

Jerome Doerr, Stewart, on Aug. 22, at age 86. He farmed the Doerr farm south of Stewart with his wife until moving into Stewart in 1991.

Warner Heller, Hutchinson, on Aug. 22, at age 91. He enjoyed hunting and taking care of his yard, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Albert Wendolek, Hutchinson, on Aug. 25, at age 83. He was a carpenter and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

SEPTEMBER
August Langenbau, Stewart, on Sept. 2, at age 73. He enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, hunting and playing cards, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Elizabeth Klawitter, Hutchinson, on Sept. 3, at age 90. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, photography, family history, corresponding with family and friends and tending to her flower and vegetables gardens.

Loren Ewer, Hector, on Sept. 4, at age 71. He will be remembered as a good, honest, hard-working, responsible person who loved his family.

Esther Harms, Hutchinson, on Sept. 7, at age 92. She enjoyed playing cards, attending the Pinnacle club, knitting and crocheting, fishing and reading.

Ethel Mons, Brownton, on Sept. 8, at age 84. She enjoyed life, family, neighbors and friends, and especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patricia Makepeace, Hamburg, on Sept. 9, at age 57. She will be remembered for her hard work and dedication to her home, and for her loving devotion to her son.

Edward Vasko, Silver Lake, on Sept. 10, at age 77. He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, refinishing antiques and gardening.

Ethel Graf, Hutchinson, on Sept. 11, at age 95. She loved being a homemaker, canning, cooking and baking for her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Dennis Buck, New Ulm, on Sept. 13, at age 80. He enjoyed music, woodworking, history, reading and his family, and was a lifetime member of the Concord Singers.

Mae Holmquist, Lake Jennie, on Sept. 13, at age 89. She loved to spend time in her garden, taking care of her flowers and vegetables.

Donald Dressel, Spirit Lake, Iowa, on Sept. 15, at age 67. He served as pastor for Christian Family Worship Center in Spirit Lake.

Rose Peterson, Hutchinson, on Sept. 16, at age 83. She loved to dance, go to the horse track, and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her beloved daughter and her Persian cat.

Virgil Antony, Hutchinson, on Sept. 18, at age 85. He enjoyed seeing his grandchildren, woodworking and repairing anything around the house, church and neighborhood.

LeRoy Jaster, Grand Rapids, on Sept. 18, at age 71. He enjoyed designing and building various projects, deer hunting, fishing, reading, gardening, working with guns and shooting his cannon.

Arnold Rosenau, Litchfield, on Sept. 18, at age 84. He enjoyed farming, fishing, deer hunting and had a special fondness for his cats and dogs.

Gladys Koopman, of Buffalo Lake, on Sept. 25, at age 77. She enjoyed trips to Jackpot and playing the lottery, and adored her grandchildren.

Harry Werner, of Darwin, on Sept. 30, at age 82. His favorite time of year was fall, and the many hours he spent with his children and grandchildren getting ready for deer hunting season.

Joyce Abbell, of Bethesda, Md., on Oct. 3, at age 65. She was a phenomenal chef and baker, a talented seamstress and an avid tennis player for many years.

Daniel Barton, North Oaks and formerly of Hutchinson, on Oct. 3, at age 90. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling.

Donald Hamrin, LaPorte, Ind., on Oct. 3, at age 80. He was and still is the love and hero of his family.

Elizabeth Horrocks, Hutchinson, on Oct. 4, at age 90. She enjoyed volunteering her time to local organizations and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Mabel Grunewaldt, Waconia and formerly of Hutchinson, on Oct. 5, at age 98. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, baking bread and pies, and fishing for bullheads.

Mildred Piepenburg, Litchfield, on Oct. 5, at age 94. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, painting, reading and traveling.

Beatrice Kulinski, Hale Township, on Oct. 7, at age 69. She enjoyed baking, gardening, state fairs, farm fests and babystitting.

Edward Shukle Sr., Hutchinson, on Oct. 7, at age 94. In retirement he volunteered as a spiritual minister of care and received the Bishop’s Medal of Service award.

Hillard Kaufmann, Hutchinson, on Oct. 8, at age 82. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed fishing, playing cards and listening to polka music.

Ole Twite, Milpitas, Calif., and Lake Marion, on Oct. 8, at age 89. He was an avid sportsman, an old car buff, collector of miniature steam engines and a boating enthusiast.

James Hagen, Darwin, on Oct. 12, at age 62. He especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and taking his grandchildren to Mini-Rod tractor pulls.

Dale Hamann, Hutchinson, on Oct. 12, at age 62. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and especially spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Marie Vossen, Arlington, and formerly of Hutchinson, on Oct. 12, at age 84. She was a homemaker and mother of 10 children.

Hildegarde Dallman, Sheridan, Wyo., and formerly of Hutchinson, on Oct. 13, at age 97. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker, and helped her husband on their dairy farm.

Clarence Shiro, Cosmos, on Oct. 16, at age 72. He enjoyed dancing, farming, watching the news, attending church dinners, and going for drives to look at crops.

Robert Zeig, New Ulm, on Oct. 16, at age 79. He enjoyed playing the concertina, fishing and woodworking, and spending time with his family.

Algot Knutson, Dassel, on Oct. 17, at age 75. He was a gentle, quiet man and a friend to everyone.

Arthur Neuman, Hutchinson, on Oct. 17, at age 81. He enjoyed reading, watching baseball and football on television, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Nora Sauer, Lodi, Calif., on Oct. 18, at age 89. She served with her husband, the Rev. Norman Sauer, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Hutchinson.

Jason Anders, Litchfield, on Oct. 22, at age 36. He was a custom cabinet maker with his father.

Lillian Ahlstrom, Golden Valley, on Oct. 23, at age 95. She was employed at 3M for 21 years.

Donna Sustacek, Orange, Calif., on Oct. 23, at age 74. Her spirit lives on in family and friends she leaves behind.

Harriet Johnson, Slayton and formerly of Hutchinson, on Oct. 24, at age 88. She was known for her expertise in knitting, weaving and home decorating.

Lucille Ruzicka, Hutchinson and formerly of Silver Lake, on Oct. 26, at age 91. She and her husband owned two bars in Biscay and formerly delivered bottled milk.

Reinhardt Schumann, Lake Jennie, on Oct. 26, at age 86. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, woodworking and working in his yard.

Myrtle Holgate, Hutchinson, on Oct. 27, at age 71. She worked as a secretary and retired from Hennepin County Social Services in 2001.

Alberta Hatfield, Becker and formerly of Darwin, on Oct. 29, at age 85. She enjoyed needlework and crocheting, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.

Kenneth Kruger, New Hope, on Oct. 30, at age 76. He and his wife enjoyed spending summers at their second home on Lake Minne Belle.

Tim Berghuis, formerly of Cosmos, on Nov. 1, at age 45. He was a devoted dad and husband, and loved to fix, build, coach football, teach and play with his children.

Raymond Drahos, Hutchinson, on Nov. 5, at age 83. He enjoyed helping people, was an excellent handyman, and was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends.

Donald Jessen, Hutchinson, on Nov. 5, at age 51. He was an avid fisherman, loved all sports and was a history buff.

Edward Magnusen, Alexandria, on Nov. 5, at age 73. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, deer and pheasant hunting, shooting trap, playing golf, and spent time gourmet cooking for his family.

Kenneth Conrad, Winsted, on Nov. 6, at age 83. He played Santa Claus for many years at family homes, churches and nursing homes.

Vincent Schuette, formerly of Hutchinson, on Nov. 8, at age 50. He enjoyed working with wood and repairing old cars.

Darrell Johnson, Litchfield and Sun City West, Ariz., on Nov. 23, at age 72. Darrell and his wife, Bev, moved to Sun City West in 1995, but returned to Litchfield for the summers.

Ernest Mose, Hutchinson, on Dec. 26, at age 92. He passed away at Solara Hospital in Harlingen, Texas.

Vannie Olson, Dassel, on Dec. 26, at age 81. She loved to visit with family and friends, and was an avid reader.

Ruth Billman, Bloomington, on Dec. 29, at age 90. She spent a total of 22 years in missionary service.

Raymond Tersteeg III, Hutchinson, on Dec. 29, at age 6. He loved to talk and spend time with his family and friends.

Earl VandeVere, Battle Creek, Mich., on Dec. 29, at age 79. He loved antique cars, gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.

Jill Rice, Waconia, on Dec. 31, at age 36. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, traveling, shopping, camping and going out to eat.
